    Bravo!

  2. Pooter Fonda May 11, 2009 @ 10:12 am

Another Great video! The guys at 4:51 looks & sounds suspiciously like Malibu from American Gladiators. Can anyone check that?

  3. Mangos May 11, 2009 @ 10:13 am

holy crap. you just Belloch-Lost Ark’d Tinky DInkle! (or whatever his name is). awesome review.

  4. Naz0099 May 11, 2009 @ 10:18 am

    That made my day.

  5. jsc315 May 11, 2009 @ 10:19 am

HAHA! That was great. The horrible acting in that video made me laugh.

  6. Bloodyshadow May 11, 2009 @ 10:20 am

You know, I watched this, watch Spoony’s complete video walkthrough and review, and seen the video myself and I still have no idea how to play this game.

  7. trafony May 11, 2009 @ 10:38 am

That warrior is Malibu from the original American Gladiators. Malibu was the most ridiculous person on the show, you can find some amazing clips on Youtube of him being interviewed.

He also played Thor in the episode if the same name on Curb Your Enthusiasm where he told Larry he was going to make him “poop his bald pants”. Add one more hilarious role to this actor’s list.

  8. darkfyre May 11, 2009 @ 10:40 am

    two claws up

  9. Sovereign Sentiences May 11, 2009 @ 10:41 am

I’d be in tears if I still felt emotions. This was great, James. Board James. I love it.

  10. Sovereign Sentiences May 11, 2009 @ 10:42 am

And yes I’m aware I just contradicted myself.

  11. Pooter Fonda May 11, 2009 @ 10:47 am

Thanks Trafony, that is what I thought!

  12. mokoleus May 11, 2009 @ 10:53 am

ahh… i got that game for christmas one year…. my friends and i tried to play it, but we already played DnD, so it was a huge step back. ended up having more fun painting the damn figurines…. how sad is that

  13. zephyr007 May 11, 2009 @ 10:56 am

I had a board game very similar in terms of how the game is played…but it was a scary graveyard themed board game called “Nightmare”. It had a creepy guy called the “Gatekeeper” on the VHS video that I think was an hour long and during it the moon on the tv screen would get more full. I remember it being very unusual.

  14. Repner May 11, 2009 @ 11:08 am

I have the Classic Dungeons & Dragons game. That red dragon in the logo of your game seems to be taken from the box art of my version of CD&D

I tried to scan it (poorly), it looks like this (I’m from the UK)

    http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o263/Repner/CCF11052009_00000.jpg

  15. Repner May 11, 2009 @ 11:13 am

Oh, and the video tape kinda reminds me of the board game Atmosfear. Lol.

    Great video James, as always

  16. Ju66410 May 11, 2009 @ 11:20 am

Another great video from the great Mr. Rolfe. This guy rocks hard, he’s my hero…

that game looks like GWS´s hero quast

  19. Moshtank May 11, 2009 @ 11:34 am

i havent laughed that hard in ages
as funny as the nerd if not better

also just seeing po at the window made me laugh extremly loudly
id like to see the teletubbies as a continued theme
    fucking hillarious

  20. hawkshaw May 11, 2009 @ 11:35 am

lol, gettin into real nerd territory here, well i say full throttle!

  21. zerosozha May 11, 2009 @ 11:46 am

That was a pretty good review, although Spoony beat you to the punch.

However, I must say that of all your shticks, the constant toilet humor is my least favorite. And with the introduction of a new persona, Board James, I was hoping you’d tone down on that, but alas….

  22. Unsightly May 11, 2009 @ 11:47 am

It looks very similar to HeroQuest, a game I had as a child. Was HeroQuest available in the US?

  23. Danomaticc May 11, 2009 @ 11:54 am

    Awesome dude, fresh new idea.

The crap thing was fuckin hilarious and board James is a great idea.

  24. syntheticsw May 11, 2009 @ 11:58 am

    “Board James” kicks ass !!!

  25. Chris of Gonzo May 11, 2009 @ 12:01 pm

    Amazing!

  26. SomeFinnishDude May 11, 2009 @ 12:05 pm

That was great! I like how you take the extra effort to bring humor into your reviews. This one had me chuckling a lot.

  27. 5h32m4n May 11, 2009 @ 12:07 pm

Just awesome! Rope Crap was my favorite.

  28. buff_drinklots May 11, 2009 @ 12:10 pm

That was so fucking funny. “Don’t turn off your VCR yet!” Haha, and “cast a pause spell on your VCR” just to make sure nobody is around…that is fucking awesome. I thought I was gonna piss my pants at that part. OH! YEA! BAAAAABAAAAAAY! I seriously want that game now, mostly just so I can watch that tape at home with some friends then at the secret part I’ll be like, “Ok, I’m really interested in becoming a Dragon Master so yall gotta get the fuck outta here.” I’ll see if I can’t buy it online.

  29. LiquidHawk May 11, 2009 @ 12:11 pm

That was awesome James, love the Board James idea! I never played that game before, and never really got into DnD stuff. But the video was hilarious, keep up the great job!
LOL @ James’ facial expression at 5:15 to the Elf’s war cry, HAHAHAHAHA!!!

  30. CannedParadox May 11, 2009 @ 12:18 pm

    Board James is awesome.

  31. You Can Just Walk Over It May 11, 2009 @ 12:18 pm

I’m Board James, and when Board James is Bored, I play some Board Games.

That name and play on words is sickeningly simple and clever.

  32. Anonymous123 May 11, 2009 @ 12:27 pm

If you’re interested, Spoony has the whole Dragonstrike video with his comments on his site spoonyexperiment.com

  33. GoldRoger May 11, 2009 @ 12:44 pm

Hey James, i’ve been watching your videos since.. forever! But this is my very first comment.

Great vid, I enjoyed that new character of yours, he doesnt look like a nerd, he wears a cool cap. LMAO

And that video must be a really expensive antique on Ebay. Are you willing to sell it ? Call me nuts, but I want that !

    cheers

  34. Linkara May 11, 2009 @ 12:47 pm

While I love Spoony’s riffing on the whole video, this added some new perspective on the game and the Board James concept is great.

    Keep it up, James!

  35. ryuk_shinigami May 11, 2009 @ 12:50 pm

No offense, but I thought the “board james” thing was a little overdone. Otherwise great video.

  36. hansrodtang May 11, 2009 @ 1:01 pm

Really funny, hoping to see more old board game reviews in the future ^^

  37. MNTwinsfan09 May 11, 2009 @ 1:21 pm

HA! I know Short-Skirted warrior looked familiar! Thats Deron McBee. He was Malibu from American Gladiators and Motaro from the second Mortal Kombat movie! Awesome career moves. I dare you to watch this clip of Malibu withouth laughing.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGDwScgb_Y0

    “gettin healed by Mother Nature!!”

  38. toiletfarm May 11, 2009 @ 1:22 pm

The modern day equivilant is Herospace or something like that. You have to roll dice to see how many hits your enemy can give you and all that. I like the Board James. It needs a theme song. Does anyone remember the TMNT board game?

  39. MNTwinsfan09 May 11, 2009 @ 1:22 pm

Whelp…It appears trafony already figured that out. Damn.

  40. Cece-InspiredByJamesRolfe May 11, 2009 @ 1:25 pm

Woah! That was awesome! Great idea and concept! It was also kind of cool to see James without glasses and the white shirt. The Nerd will always be my favorite, but this video kicked ass. I hope if you are not too busy with the Angry Nerd series we see a few more of these “Board James” reviews. Well done.

  41. happystickman May 11, 2009 @ 1:39 pm

You have to review Key to the Kingdom, the one below this game. I have that game, and it wasn’t as complicated, but it was so weird, that no one ever wanted to play.

  42. Psykhophear May 11, 2009 @ 2:00 pm

Awesome review Nerd, or should I call you Board James. Never heard of DragonStrike before but I’d sure give it a try back then. There’s a lot of “crap” in the game too.

I love this board game reviews.

  43. jasta186 May 11, 2009 @ 2:05 pm

We need more reviews of board games. There are so many brilliant and/or ridiculous old games that just begs to be dissected. Do children even play board games anymore?

  44. Cydonos May 11, 2009 @ 2:10 pm

Is this a ripoff of HeroQuest or vice versa?

  45. kyros May 11, 2009 @ 2:24 pm

actually heroquest is based on the same kind of system : they all try to emmulate dongeons and dragons the roleplaying game, but on a board game insted of a classic roleplaying game.

hoever I think Heroquest and Dongeons and dragon does not takes place in the same universe.

  46. Lisek May 11, 2009 @ 2:25 pm

My name is Board, James Board.

  47. killswitch May 11, 2009 @ 2:34 pm

I love your work! This video was hilarious! The guy does look like Malibu from American Gladiators! LOL!

  48. Joemarvelly May 11, 2009 @ 2:43 pm

    Haha very good!

  49. kyros May 11, 2009 @ 2:45 pm

by the way : hie everybody : this is mi first post, enventhgough I’ve been watching James’s videos for several months.

congratulation for your videos james, they’re awsome!

and forgive me if I’m wrong on some words : English is not my natal language (I’m french).

  50. Leshrac May 11, 2009 @ 2:52 pm

Stopped watching when you started with your T = C therefore Trap = Crap…

I know most americans are intellectually borderline but if you can “run” this sort of Trap for THAT LONG (that is, more than 2 seconds), you should :

    1- Seek help
2- Raise your IQ to a 3 digits number
3- Attempt the same “joke” and not feel like a complete imbecile.

Repeat until you complete the 3 steps successfully.

  51. Noctilca May 11, 2009 @ 2:54 pm

Great video! I never had this game, but I had one that was similar (I can’t recall the name right now, but one player would be the “dungeon master” and the others would be the heroes, just like this game). We never played it much, either, because it was so time-consuming to set up.

I hope we’ll see more “Board James” videos – there are so many great old board games to review! (perhaps Talisman? Dark Tower?)

    Keep up the great work!

  52. kyros May 11, 2009 @ 3:09 pm

my good! who the hell casted a humorless spell on you lesharc!

  53. fourfour44 May 11, 2009 @ 3:11 pm

another awesome video. I remember this game, it was from TSR and meant to be an introduction to role playing games without being as complicated as Dungeons and Dragons can get with giant detailed rule books. On that level I thought it did okay, but the video was way over the top, even in the early 90s. I haven’t seen that thing in years, but as soon as I saw the warrior I recognized him as Malibu, they’ve been re-running old first season episodes of American Gladiators on ESPN Classic lately. I don’t know who they think this video was supposed appeal to.

Keep the board game reviews coming, there’s tons of classic (and not so classic) board games out there ripe for reviewing and ripping apart.

  54. Smackman May 11, 2009 @ 3:13 pm

Hahaha! Yeah, I bought that game too! And oddly enough, I also couldn’t find anyone to play it with me!

  55. ohnoanotherputz May 11, 2009 @ 3:16 pm

Hahaha, fucking blast from the past! I remember my brother got this game for Christmas one year. Part of me wishes your review actually talked about playing the game a little more… but the rest of me realizes that your summation that you could NEVER get anyone to play it with you is 100% accurate. I think I maybe played it 5 times in my life, and all of them were with my brother. Funny shit.

  56. OK8 May 11, 2009 @ 3:31 pm

    I really liked this.

  57. UCF00v May 11, 2009 @ 3:45 pm

“Stopped watching when you started with your T = C therefore Trap = Crap…

Dude, if you’re going to make a statement like that, you should:

1 – Know what you’re talking about, or give some sort of reason to believe you might
2 – Avoid using language in needlessly complicated ways that require all readers to jump through hoops to piece together what you were trying to say
3 – Stop being a party pooper who decides to not get the humor of the person he’s watching

  58. moogster May 11, 2009 @ 3:57 pm

Great review as usual. I’ve never heard of the game myself, but it looks like it could be a lot of fun if you bothered to learn all the rules, set it up and play it. It has potential.

    Also…is that a wedding ring!? :)

  59. kosmos May 11, 2009 @ 3:58 pm

I think this is one of your funniest reviews ever. I am a big fan. Your videos always make my day better. Keep up the good work.

  60. algi2 May 11, 2009 @ 4:11 pm

As an enthusiastic tabletop roleplayer for me this game looks like a real treasure.

  61. TehJimmy May 11, 2009 @ 4:18 pm

Love the new character, James. Way to keep things fresh and original!

  62. Daburlz May 11, 2009 @ 4:24 pm

    Bravo….Bravo….OMG….Bravo.

  63. algi2 May 11, 2009 @ 4:25 pm

Oh, and forgot to tell: this is for long time one of your funniest videos. Your latest AVGN ones are pretty lame considered to this one. The crap joke kills.

  64. thevgman May 11, 2009 @ 4:33 pm

I wonder if he has seen the movie “Shoot ‘Em Up.” It has that song on the end credits (Kickstart My Heart).

  65. Leshrac May 11, 2009 @ 4:54 pm

They cast the hardass spell on me, not the humorless !

  66. kitkatbar3003 May 11, 2009 @ 4:57 pm

    Board James… That’s pretty punny.

    *ba-dum-tish*

  67. Leshrac May 11, 2009 @ 4:57 pm

    UCF00v:

I didn’t “decide” not to have fun, some of the guy’s videos are indeed pretty funny.

Only lately, the overplayed “jokes” and borderline mentally challenged “humor” is getting more annoying and pityful than entertaining.

  68. gruven42 May 11, 2009 @ 5:08 pm

Ha! The “King” in the video is the “Puppeteer” guy from Heroes.

  69. CoreyCage May 11, 2009 @ 5:13 pm

In my opinion this video was funnier than the last Nerd Episode. The Nerd videos need to start getting more funny like the older ones.

P.S. Bugs Bunny’s Birthday Blowout Is the best AVGN review! lol

  70. LordCrowman May 11, 2009 @ 5:14 pm

Haha, Great vid. I see you had Key to the Kingdom on that shelf too. I got that puppy sitting in my closet.

As already stated by zephyr007, Nightmare sounds kinda like this, though this is much more complicated I’m assuming. My friend and I have Nightmare 1-3, all are pretty damn fun. Check it out.

  71. Msh May 11, 2009 @ 5:38 pm

Haha, that was totally awesome, you really have to do more vids like this one. way to go James :)

  72. SpazzMaster May 11, 2009 @ 5:42 pm

Ha ha. Excellent character concept and awesome review as well. You didn’t torture us with the VHS as much as Spoony did in his review.

  73. DV May 11, 2009 @ 5:42 pm

Now that’s just fuckin hilarious!!!!!!!! Totally AWESOME!!!!!!

  74. DodgerOfZion May 11, 2009 @ 5:56 pm

Wow…thanks for warning me about this Board James; I’ll stick with 4E D&D!

  75. tarmadadj May 11, 2009 @ 5:58 pm

I have enough of people complaining about toilet humor i agree that in some videos its a bit too much but its hard to think about an AVGN video that doesn’t contain any sort of it.
If you want to see some toilet-less humor i think you came to the wrong place, other than that you can see James’s movies reviews and top tens.

  76. Aramax May 11, 2009 @ 5:58 pm

This made me laugh out loud for real for so many reasons. When I was younger I used to play “The Dark Eye” a german role-playing game that was translated and available in french before Dungeons & Dragons… Or was it because everone else had bought all the D&D games before me? Anyway, it was roughly around the same time.

The thing is, I used to play that game with 3 sometimes 4 of my friends and we really played the game for days… but they were jerks and never took the game seriously. Most of the time they would just poke fun at how ridiculous it is to give complete control of a characters to a player… they would climb trees to avoid battles, go the wrong way every time, try to get their character laid all the time.

It was hilarious but when magic the gathering came out we all agreed that it was a superior form of gaming experience. That and video games.

If you can read french and want to learn about The Dark Eye this web site is pretty much the last standing pillar of the whole game.

Maybe you’re right. Maybe our IQs are too different for me to fully appreciate this “kind” of humor.

  78. stevedaniels May 11, 2009 @ 6:06 pm

I remember this game when I was a kid. I was in love with it, but could rarely find people to play. Whenever I did, however, it was friggin’ awesome. I used to watch that video nearly every day! And I’m surprised to see those glitchy graphics were present in all copies (I always thought mine was broken). Nice review, James!

  79. crowquill May 11, 2009 @ 6:06 pm

    Nice vid.
I had never heard of this game before.

  80. PoeTrader May 11, 2009 @ 6:07 pm

I really like this new Board James character you’ve come up with. I hope you do more board game reviews in the future!

  81. Cyberscream May 11, 2009 @ 6:08 pm

LOL!!! Man this made my day, starting with the different kinds of crap.

  82. SvM May 11, 2009 @ 6:11 pm

    Hey James, where’s your glasses?

Board James ownz and it’s one of the funniest videos lately. Nice little change to your usual angry personality. If you view him as an AVGN parody it’s even funnier. Keep it up :)

Btw: warrior rly does look like Malibu. Just lacks some tan.

  83. Mahbonk May 11, 2009 @ 6:12 pm

This make my day. Great review James
I laughed so hard at the crap part.

  84. Satoshi May 11, 2009 @ 6:15 pm

DAMN! I had this game but I never got the chance to see the tape.

I had a sneaking suspicion that I knew what this game was. And then you turned on the video and he said “Are you feeling brave tonight?” Then I knew for sure. When I visited some friends in Canada, we had a barbeque one of the last nights I was there, and they showed me this video. Freaking hilarious crap.

Also I love the name Board James. Makes me laugh every time I think about it haha.

  87. Bueller_007 May 11, 2009 @ 7:10 pm

This game is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.

  88. Noctilca May 11, 2009 @ 7:29 pm

Ah, I just remembered the game I mentioned earlier that DragonStrike reminds me of – HeroQuest. Only HeroQuest didn’t come with a funny VHS tape.

  89. Preeve May 11, 2009 @ 7:35 pm

Nice review, but… Board James? That sounds very TGWTG, you know? :)

  90. Lee May 11, 2009 @ 7:36 pm

    “MEET RIPOFF NERD

    http://www.spoonyexperiment.com/2008/01/05/dragon-strike-board-game-review/?cp=2

…so, what Leshrac is saying is that Spoony took the idea for James’s video, traveled back in time 16 months, and put out a video of his own. That fiend!

The two reviews are quite different, and Spoony has definitely become one of the best reviewers/critics out there. Think before you spew.

  91. waltsoph3 May 11, 2009 @ 7:40 pm

I actually own this game. It was a true treasure when i was growing up and great way to have some fun with friends. They just don’t games like this anymore. But I’m glad you covered this game it deserved its moment in the spotlight. I look forward to your next boardgame review. Keep up the great work man. :)

  92. NineRapture May 11, 2009 @ 8:06 pm

That sure was a whole lot of c(t)raps!

  93. Bluecat May 11, 2009 @ 8:08 pm

FINALLY I GOT MY PASSWORD! I’m a huge fan from French Canada and i’m glad to be here!

For this video, it was very good and funny! My respects to the teletubbie hoping he is now in hell sucking boiling goblin zits while being rape by a….. Hummm. Ok.

For the videotape now…. What the hell was that? The actors ruined their careers forever playing on this.

    Keep the good work James!

  94. VANDAL May 11, 2009 @ 8:10 pm

    100%… no, 1000% pure gold! :)

This is what Cinemassacre is all about, straight up.

  95. BlueGemini May 11, 2009 @ 8:15 pm

Hwow, that’s one complicated board game, geez.. I can’t play that. Just the Monopoly and I’m content

Board James is great! So this show focuses on some unique and strange board games? That’s cool! How wonder how many board games were created like that :)

  96. davidribeiro May 11, 2009 @ 8:42 pm

“I honestly don’t think AVGN rip-off the idea. He has enough games to choose and avoid that kind of stuff. And, also, he wouldn’t want that kind of stain in his reputation. It’s understandable that once in a while someone will review something another person already reviewed.(…)”

I wrote that on Spoony’s comment session. I think this will probably become a cross-over. But, if I’m wrong, I think James could post some note just to cool the haters down. We’re all sick of those guys yelling “rip-off” all the time.

    DR

  97. chriskoopa May 11, 2009 @ 8:49 pm

    that was insane, i lol’d

  98. SuperDrops May 11, 2009 @ 9:08 pm

    This goes to Leshrac

You have all right to not appreciate toilet humor. Everybody has his/her (not sure to which gender you belong, enlighten me if you wish) taste and their right to such. What I however can’t in good conscience tolerate, and have seen not only from you but many many people, is the claim that only stupid people enjoy toilet humor.
Now, I may not be a studied person, but I still assert myself to be fairly educated and, without wanting to brag, intelligent above the norm. I enjoy toilet humor and feel insulted when people make this claim. I will freely admit that it is not the most sophisticated or most matured form of comedy, but are we not allowed to enjoy the simple things in life anymore just because we have gained knowledge of the more complex ones?
Bottom line, I respect your tastes, but try not to insult those who differ.

    To those shouting rip-off

Please bear in mind that there is only a finite amount of material in the universe, and especially with a opic as specialized as board games things are bound to repeat. Maybe James should have given a shout out to Spoony, but I don’t think it’s so bad he didn’t. His video is different enough from Spoonys to be clearly not a rip off. And if Spoony really felt ripped he would’ve written a much angrier post on his blog. I still remember his rage on Zombies and Zelda…

MAn this new Series is Awesome 10/10. The next board game you should review is Party Mania. The video included with that game is such an Epic WIn and the game itself is good

  100. fated May 11, 2009 @ 9:18 pm

Great Work, James! It’s good to see a new series on the site.

  101. ryan2142 May 11, 2009 @ 9:29 pm

I have this game. Awesome review man.

  102. fulltimemonti May 11, 2009 @ 9:30 pm

That reminds me of a VHS board game we used to play called Nightmare. You should really check it out. Very corny video. However, we of course used to play late at night and it would scare the crap out of us.

  103. souphippie May 11, 2009 @ 9:53 pm

Thought to finally join the bandwagon here. I thought the board game review was stellar! Actually it was funnier than the latest offering of AVGN… though both were informative. That’s what I like about your stuff James, you are both informative and funny. It’s a pleasant combo.

  104. JexyMG May 11, 2009 @ 10:18 pm

hahahaha Oh man is that video seriously like that? That was hilarious! Great vid man! Looking forward to more!

  105. Jackred May 11, 2009 @ 10:23 pm

I just finished watching that soon after your review on Mouse Trap now all I have to say about this one here what the fuck man just whose fucking idea is that my god that was cornier than Hotel Mario and Zelda games on CD-i combine in my opinion.

  106. JeremyA May 11, 2009 @ 10:36 pm

the glam rock warrior’s name is Deron McBee
    maybe someone already said it

  107. K6CTX May 11, 2009 @ 11:35 pm

Very well done, two claws up!

  108. Schoellnacher May 11, 2009 @ 11:41 pm

LOL, wtf, EPIC! Keep up the good ol’ work.

  109. Amethyst May 12, 2009 @ 12:44 am

Great work! (BTW, HeroQuest is worth a ton of money right now. If any of you out there come across a copy of the game that’s full or mostly complete, you can probably sell it on ebay for 50-100 dollars. I got 80 bucks for a copy of that game that I had bought at a thrift store for a dollar.) Jus’ sayin’ that you might want to keep an eye out, is all….

  110. iluvmyveedub May 12, 2009 @ 12:47 am

Well, I’d have to say this is a great addition to what you normally do, and as a fan of Adventure Board Games, it just tickles my fancy.

    Great Job, Do More.

  111. troilus May 12, 2009 @ 12:52 am

hilarious stuff. that video looks amazing. i have the same problem with some of my board games. try getting anyone to play squad leader with you.

  112. jaakkop May 12, 2009 @ 1:35 am

Excellent video, and what a great character! I hope we will see more of Board James in the future. :-)

  113. arctifox May 12, 2009 @ 2:14 am

Wow, new series! This is interesting, keep ‘em coming, Board James =)))

  114. runicen May 12, 2009 @ 2:27 am

Great video! Never got to play Dungeon Strike, but some friends did turn me on to HeroQuest.

Played a wizard who melee attacked more than the Barbarian…. Go figure.

Digging the new board game review vids. Keep them coming!

  115. Rej May 12, 2009 @ 2:58 am

Wow lol, my friend actually had this. The vhs video was something strange, like of a production value I wouldn’t expect for a boardgame pack-in(although that doesn’t say much). maybe it was just me but there were a few parts that almost looked like softcore porn with the thief lmao, maybe not surprising considering the targeted age group … James rocks \m/, cant wait to see more

  116. tlsnow May 12, 2009 @ 3:15 am

Wow man. I thought maybe when you moved into making board game reviews that you’d be pushing it a bit. But this is genius. It’s awesome you got this talent to entertain so many people whether it meant by reviewing a movie, a game, or even a board game now. You’ve got a great gift with this stuff.

  117. Spritle101 May 12, 2009 @ 3:53 am

I want that for the next time I have to stay in a tent or hotel.

  118. Martin Ekdahl May 12, 2009 @ 4:23 am

That was super! What a crazy game!! Like Hero Quest on PCP. Man, what a cool VHS. That must have cost the game developers a fortune. To unfortunate the game never became as big as other games in the genre. Well, maybe Board James finally has made the marketing job. The game probably will be hotter than Hell on the second hand market after this review.

  119. WilHiteWarrior May 12, 2009 @ 4:46 am

“Hey, Your Royalness… are there any rules to this game?”
    “Surely you jest! Hahahahahahahahaha!”

    LOL! That was epic

  120. ilgristia May 12, 2009 @ 5:04 am

I really hope that Board James will entertain us for a long, long time! :D
    Great job!

  121. cheetaboy7 May 12, 2009 @ 6:52 am

This reminds me of the early avgn vids. Make many more and keep up the old spirit. Also the thing that people complain about with the new avgn is that it has been toned down a little. I think that the vids are still great but its lost some of its obsesiveness. You need some more extreems and swears every 20 seconds or so.

  122. cheetaboy7 May 12, 2009 @ 6:53 am

    ps- the thief was hot

  123. VideoDrone May 12, 2009 @ 7:54 am

I’ll agree, the scatological humour often leaves me quiet but if you’re going to act so intelligent Lesrac or whatever, the least you could do is spell pitiful right.

  124. weemies May 12, 2009 @ 8:01 am

Awesome, this was one of your best videos ever.

  125. Incontinencia May 12, 2009 @ 8:33 am

Well i liked Spoonys version better but yours ist still pretty funny :)

  126. rake May 12, 2009 @ 8:38 am

Way to bring it back to basics JR.
This video was awesome and I can’t believe you have that game.
    Well done!

  127. slyjaski15 May 12, 2009 @ 8:43 am

awesome review i loved it man. it makes me wanna go out and buy it too haha. dude maybe i should play it at my grad party haha

  128. sloth_72 May 12, 2009 @ 9:17 am

Yeah, I got this game, never actually played the damn game just messed around with the figures and mixed them up with my figurines from Hero Quest and that battle mat game. Still, it’s awesome seeing that ridiculous video again, soooo funny

  129. Optics May 12, 2009 @ 9:35 am

Cool, another one of these! I’ve never heard of this board game though. Mouse trap, now that was a classic.

  130. Nord-Manden May 12, 2009 @ 9:53 am

This could be a brand new character, something different from Avgn?

  131. Phil-UK May 12, 2009 @ 9:54 am

haha, that was awesome. very funny. cant wait to see more.

  132. KingShiloh May 12, 2009 @ 10:15 am

Very nice, the part with the “crap – cards” left me rollin on the floor, laughing xD

  133. algi2 May 12, 2009 @ 11:04 am

Toilet humor? This wasn’t James making shitsounds, like last time. That letter T really asked for it.

  134. casinoskunk May 12, 2009 @ 12:23 pm

FIREBALL ISLAND is the greatest board game of ALL TIME, hands down, make no mistake about it!

  135. Kopf May 12, 2009 @ 12:36 pm

Yeah, I liked this one, but I think Spoony’s one is better, because the video had so much more resource to do comedy from.

  136. ninja_mastervi May 12, 2009 @ 1:00 pm

Dude! I saw Key to the Kingdom in the Closet. When is there going to be a review on that?

  137. jtstrocel May 12, 2009 @ 1:02 pm

The host in the video looks like Sir Simon Milligan from the Pit of Ultimate Darkness in Kids in the Hall. EVIL!!!

  138. ramir3z May 12, 2009 @ 2:00 pm

    Dude, I’m stunned… again!
    You are am-fucking-azing!

  139. Jehauri May 12, 2009 @ 2:04 pm

Love the board game reviews, looking forward to more. When you said your friends suddenly wanted to leave, I kind of pictured them as the sort of people who just hate on anything nerdy without actually trying it… too “cool” to do anything with dragons and wizards. That was until I saw the hilariously embarrassing video, and realized I would have run away too!

  140. Foghat May 12, 2009 @ 2:14 pm

Haha! That was awesome, James. I used to play Hero Quest when i was a kid, this takes me back. Thanks

  141. SpartanTnT May 12, 2009 @ 2:26 pm

Weird video to come with a board game, what were they thinking? Anyway, I like this new concept for a series, keep them coming.

  142. LittlePancake May 12, 2009 @ 3:09 pm

    I’ll play with you, James!

  143. staveoffzombies May 12, 2009 @ 3:17 pm

That looks awesome, I would totally play that.

  144. MiNDiM May 12, 2009 @ 3:18 pm

That was hilarious and mostly as funny as AVGN videos! Thnx!

  145. FaizDaDon May 12, 2009 @ 4:51 pm

Anyone who makes a review of something as simple as a board game, and makes it this funny and entertaining is a genius.

I take my hat of to you James.

  146. MCMD May 12, 2009 @ 5:36 pm

This is amazing. I remember playing this game with my neighbor but I didn’t know what it was called. Thank you for this James.

  147. Lari May 12, 2009 @ 5:46 pm

Yeah, that was entertaining. However as a review of a game, it was also superficial. While talking excessively about the video that came with the box, you’re not losing a word on the quality of the actual game. That whole Board James concept is clever, but for future outings I would wish for a more in-depth look.

  148. RYGAR_the_Unethical May 12, 2009 @ 5:53 pm

Fucking awesome!! My bothers and I used to play that, it was actually quite fun. That video it came with was batshit crazy.. so hilarious James! Keep em coming: the board games, video games, the movies. 100% entertainment and I love every minute of it!!

PS: This is “RYGAR”. The site wouldn’t allow me to login anymore and the password doesn’t work and my email wasn’t on file anymore. So I am reborn: RYGAR The Unethical!!!!! Muuuaaahaaa haa

  149. t-dub May 12, 2009 @ 6:43 pm

lmao that was awsome :d i would sit and play i mean there was so much blood in the video… lets watch it again!

  150. Arouth May 12, 2009 @ 7:02 pm

Board James, huh? Another character, another serie. Tired to be the angry nerd, I guess. Well, your stuff is pettry good James and I’m sure be your first french canadian fan. I’ll tune cinemassacre.com whatever you do and I hope you get some serious and opportunities in cinema in the future.

Bravo et continu comme ça, James.

  151. Johnny Deformed May 12, 2009 @ 7:06 pm

Awesome show. Board James is a great character and this will be a refreshing series.
The jokes were top notch! keep up the good work!

  152. BootLeG sampler.. May 12, 2009 @ 7:36 pm

Damn, I remember seeing the ads for that game in my old comic books, in fact, I’m looking at the add from an old issue of Spiderman… that’s fucked up…. I just thought that the add for it was too campy kinda like those old Nintendo Power ads back in the day…

Plus, I hope that this becomes a new series, fuckin’ awesome…

  153. Josh7289 May 12, 2009 @ 8:49 pm

    That’s a lot of work.

  154. Dragonosx May 12, 2009 @ 9:04 pm

I wanted, and received, that game as a gift back in the day. Primarily because I wanted the miniatures…. However my brother and I attempted to play it. The video dampened our interest in it, and after a brief attempt at playing (neither of us knew what to do and only 2 people playing a bad game does not a good time make) we boxed it up and that was the end of that. The dragon’s still on display with my other dragon figurines though.

  155. Luke May 12, 2009 @ 9:16 pm

Good review as always, but there was one thing missing:
    You didn’t play the game.

At least in the Mouse Trap review we got to see some of the board game being played.
It was entertaining, but it would have been nice to actually see how the game is played, and not just a review of the VHS tape included with the game.

Keep up the good work, and best of luck.

  156. CadetPD May 12, 2009 @ 10:23 pm

The intro made me shit bricks because in the game closet I saw “Key to the Kingdom”.

    Ho
    Ly

    Crap.

I need to go find mine.

  157. dallasbhere May 12, 2009 @ 10:39 pm

I remember getting this game and not understanding one fucking thing about it, it was confusing and it pissed me off because it looked cool. forgot all about it, thanks for reminding me maybe now that i’m older i might understand it, i’ll check it out again.

  158. Glenn May 12, 2009 @ 11:04 pm

I’ve got that same shirt, it’s one of my favorite shirts

  159. nowhere May 12, 2009 @ 11:18 pm

I liked this review, the game does remind me a lot of “Nightmare”(VHS) or “AtmosFEAR”(DVD). In the 1980s I remember there were people who tried to incorporate VHS videos into videogames, kinda like you finish a stage, pop in a tape and view a cutscene, think I have an ad for it somewhere next to my Texas ChainSaw Massacre Atari magazine ad.

  160. Braedan51 May 13, 2009 @ 12:01 am

I had this EXACT same experience with Hero Quest. I don’t think I ever got to play that game.

Is the king in the video played by Robert Costanza (shockingly IMDB doesn’t list Dragonstrike in his filmography). He also played commissioner Stenchler in Sewer Shark, Dogmeat.

  161. elcalvo May 13, 2009 @ 1:09 am

You didn’t buy all those board games, right…?

“Board James”… I guess he is more social than the AVGN.

    Nice review.

  162. renderspy May 13, 2009 @ 1:31 am

Lol love the crap jokes!! bahaha rope crap

  163. Kini May 13, 2009 @ 2:14 am

This is one of the funniest reviews I’ve ever seen :D
    LOVE IT

  164. raven182 May 13, 2009 @ 2:42 am

    Board James… whahaha ;)

  165. Tobiski May 13, 2009 @ 7:12 am

Best two parts are when James blow up teletubbies’ head @ 7:32, his look is priceless after that :D The other one is at the end when he laughs and suddenly goes “hey waitwaitwaitwaitwait, where did everybody go?”

  166. mamoru-sama May 13, 2009 @ 12:51 pm

    Happy? I need new pants.
I laughed so hard i just wet it twice, first with the “crap cards” and the with the VHS.
(yeah i didn’t change myself between, not that i’m gross but I just assumed there would be another wetpanter laugh)

Comon’ guys, that’s a joke, I didn’t really urinate. (But I did laugh hard though)

I had another game like that called Space Crusade^^
I played it “screw it” style (you just roll the dice and whoever has the highest number wins the battle).

  167. junkiegamer May 13, 2009 @ 2:23 pm

great video hey is that key to the kingdom. i had that but then just two years ago i sold it. now that was a tough game to play.

  168. Blindside May 13, 2009 @ 2:26 pm

That was awesome James, keep making Board James videos.

  169. Clutz450 May 13, 2009 @ 3:09 pm

I noticed that the letters in the title Board James came from other board game titles. Does anyone know what games they are from? I know the ‘D’ is from Candy Land, the ‘M’ is Monopoly, the ‘E’ is Life, and I think the ‘J’ is Jumanji. I have no idea about the others though. Anyone else have any ideas or guesses?

  170. Viper May 13, 2009 @ 3:15 pm

Haha that was hilarious :) . Keep up the great work James !. I think it’s a great idea to board games etc.

  171. bigmegg May 13, 2009 @ 3:47 pm

Fantastic! Gimme more! So great :D

  172. marclawson May 13, 2009 @ 4:44 pm

holy shit that was so good

  173. mattsmith117 May 13, 2009 @ 5:50 pm

“When Board James is bored, he plays some board games.” Hilarious.. along with the hat.

  174. zackattack May 13, 2009 @ 6:12 pm

The Warrior looks alot like James Hetfield from Metallica! XD Great vid

  175. bdonofrio May 13, 2009 @ 8:58 pm

board james is awesome, this video made me laugh.

  176. elfplumber May 13, 2009 @ 9:08 pm

Dude everything you touch turns to gold…keep up the good work. Why don’t you have a show on a tv network? You really strike a nerve with me (born ‘83) … I feel like you could be successful on tv. Then again, you’d have to tone it down and cut out the cussing. Where is the fucking fun in that?

Suggestion: do a video on the Mega Man series in all its incarnations!

Also, did you copyright AVGN? I saw an AVGN mega man video on youtube done by some other guy that was just beyond randomosity.

  177. Smonkey May 13, 2009 @ 10:02 pm

I thought this game seemed familiar, but with a different name… Hero Quest, thats it. Ive played it a bunch, its burried somewhere. They gotta be made by the same company cause they are the exact same for the most part.

  178. darkknightdetec May 13, 2009 @ 10:11 pm

FANTASTIC job. There’s a lot of places you can go with this new “Board James” series. It goes hand in hand with your amazing video game reviews. Absolutely love it. Looking forward to more episodes in the future.

  179. BLADDERMETAL May 14, 2009 @ 5:33 am

Lmao!! that warrior guy looked like fabio, lol. I remember my feiend that lived next to me had the game but we never go around to really play it cause it took to much time to explain, lol.

  180. Dustin May 14, 2009 @ 11:22 am

This review reminded me of another vhs-board game tie in from when I was a kid remember the cartoon gargoyles? well they made a direct to video movie that also came with a “free interactive vcr board game” but in that case the video actually had an impact on the game there was a time limit on the video you had to beat and every now and then the screen would flash and tell the current player to pick up a certain card or perform an action of some kind. I think it would make a great review if you could get your hands on it.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.my/Gargoyles-The-Movie-Heroes-Awaken-Internactive-Game-VHS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQitemZ360125925283#ebayphotohosting

Anyway I’m a big fan of avgn and by the looks of things I will be anticipating the board James reviews just as much. Keep up the good work.

moogster, James has been married for quite a while

  182. rad May 14, 2009 @ 1:52 pm

That was a really cool…nintendo hat. Seriously James, I wanna steal it. =-D

  183. nick311xx May 14, 2009 @ 4:22 pm

great review. I remember playing this game all the time with my friends back in the day

  184. alaterale May 14, 2009 @ 7:35 pm

Oh my god I remember this game! It was so hilarious when my friend got it for his birthday I think. We just couldn’t stop watching that tape, particularly the part where the warrior guy stabs the scorpion with its own stinger :P
I think by the time we actually wanted to play the game, he had lost most of the pieces or something, but he still had that VHS tape.
What a funny review, glad I’m not the only person who remembers this game! :D

  185. holydisease May 14, 2009 @ 10:34 pm

hate to be a dick but spoony1 already did that …pretty funny 2 not as funny as yours thou

  186. Simon May 15, 2009 @ 12:25 am

It was a nice review as always man. I just want to ask you if you could do some Nintendo 64 games reviews please :) . This is just a suggestion so you can take it or not. Well , continue with your very great job and i wish you good luck man.

    - Your Fan #1

  187. xemmy May 15, 2009 @ 8:41 am

Really nice review. I had a similar game, “Hero Quest”, and sadly i had the same problem you had. It was a bit difficult to get enough people together.
The games lasted quite a few hours, which didn’t really help and setting up the game took forever. At least Hero Quest had no VCR coming with it.

  188. a_girl_in_space May 15, 2009 @ 11:08 am

HaHa board james is cool :)

the video remembers me of a weird belgian cartoon when I was little “liegebeest” :D

  189. heejin May 15, 2009 @ 11:12 am

That was a very good review, very entertaining, even if I’ve never seen this game in my life :)

  190. HeLLraz3r23 May 15, 2009 @ 8:52 pm

Oh man, that crap card part was hilarious!

  191. MistyShadow007 May 16, 2009 @ 6:01 am

Holy hell that’s one weird game. 0.0

  192. registeredname May 16, 2009 @ 10:13 am

First thing I thought of, like a lot of you, was how it reminded me of Hero Quest. I still have my copy in my closet. I somehow managed to get my friends to play it (none of them were into D&D).

Unsightly – I’m not sure about it being available int eh US or not, but I’m from Canada and bouthgt as a kid.

zephyr007 – I know that game Nightmare! My best friend while growing up had about 4 editions of that game. I remember going over and playing it all the time. His mom would watch it while we played and for some reason when teh “gatekeeper” would appear and say something his moom would always yell “Fuck you!” at the tv…

  193. Jebusura May 16, 2009 @ 2:37 pm

Falling rock crap! lmfao I laughed so hard on that little part.

Nice work. You should get these up on youtube, their really good

  194. TJBLAZE May 16, 2009 @ 5:19 pm

I was nervous about this at first – I never was one of those weird board game kids, and I thought this was going to be just a regular review… but it was as funny as the AVGN vids. Thanks!

  195. Archvile78 May 16, 2009 @ 11:58 pm

”Until then, kindly cast a Pause video spell”

    LOL that was hilarious.

Made an account just for this comment

Keep the Board James stuff coming i really like the idea
and there are millons of board games yu could review so keep stuff coming

  199. GuneThar May 18, 2009 @ 12:36 pm

This game is brilliant. There are even small books with each character that are pretty funny.

  200. Thetanplzer May 18, 2009 @ 1:48 pm

I sure hope this will be an on going thing for you i like it almost as much as your nerd show

  201. bloodorgy May 18, 2009 @ 2:25 pm

Just of Info. the cartoon Dexer`s Lab was doing a game like this :D in one episode . But Good job with the board :D review. Take care . Bloodorgy :D Out….

  202. darkerside May 18, 2009 @ 3:22 pm

    Awesome review
Kinda reminded me of the old game Dark Tower
If you played that you should do a review hehe

I think someone’s mention this board game already, but there was one board game/vhs combo called Nightmare that I played when I was like 8, and it actually did give me nightmares. I know that you’re way too busy to take requests, but it would be awesome if you could somehow get ahold of that one and do a video for it.
On a side note, there was a board game that came with the Gargoyle’s cartoon movie that me and my friends played all the time, it was awesome.

  204. cloob1 May 19, 2009 @ 12:07 pm

I watched this video for the second time, it cracks my shit up!

  205. darth_blunted May 19, 2009 @ 12:20 pm

    Here’s the King!
    http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0089781/
I knew I recoginized him from somewhere! Most people do considering he’s been a character actor for the better part of the last 26 years. Enjoy!
P.S.-Anyone know who the other people in the video are? IMDB doesn’t seem to cite his role in this video…

  208. Cornball78 May 19, 2009 @ 4:21 pm

Correction, it’s listed. You have to look around. Here’s the link to the video:

  209. Arjak May 20, 2009 @ 12:56 pm

    LMAO!

James, IMO, this is one of your best videos. This is definitely a series you should continue!

  210. rusty_nads May 20, 2009 @ 4:35 pm

haha crap and the motley crue rocked

  211. mttellek May 20, 2009 @ 11:16 pm

    Does James play D&D?!?!?!

    ~

  212. Shenni Marie May 20, 2009 @ 11:35 pm

I also owned a game in which a VHS was included, but this VHS was used to PLAY the game. It was called ATMOSPHERE! It was kind of similar, where there were two boards to play on, and there was like a 2 hour timer on the video. It was mainly a blank screen with eerie music, but every once in a while this creepy hooded deranged man would come on and YELL something and everyone had to stop and listen to him and did what he’d say, which would change the game around. I picked it up at a 2nd Hand store for 5 bucks, brought it home, and my brother and his buddies had a blast.

Thanks for sparking some memories there James! :)

  213. Ezekiel May 21, 2009 @ 1:32 am

Totally fucking hilarious! (and to whoever mentioned heros quest, yes we had it in the US)….but my mom was too damn religious and threw it on on me cause it was “the devil”…along with with my batman pjs.
    You make great videos james.

  214. Ezekiel May 21, 2009 @ 1:33 am

…oh and that conan looking guy reminds me of the ultimate warrior without makeup

  215. Ezekiel May 21, 2009 @ 1:34 am

…sorry for commenting 3 times in a row…but yes i also made an account for this comment and it would be bad ass if you made a series based on bored games

  216. Paulukmwr May 21, 2009 @ 6:59 pm

two suggestions 1. do more like that 2. put that whole video up on youtube. first time you have blended your two videos ideas together james, awsome, keep up the good work

  217. Milespace May 22, 2009 @ 8:55 pm

Hah, this is what you do best. ((Or at least what draws the biggest crowd, not surprisingly ^_-)) Showing random crap (god) or giving an angle on regular crap and making it hilariously informative, while sharing the familiar stories. All tied up in a professional looking bow. Learning’s fun, huh? Awesome stuff, hope to see more of the board games “series”. And any other series you might feel like doing.

I probably shouldn’t, but I’m in the mood… Leshrac, get out. If you like James’ work, you should have more respect for him. To me it was funny because it didn’t make alot of sense, and the imagery in my mind was absurd. In a funny way. Some might consider your lack of understanding and imagination a lack of intelligence. Further supported by the fact that you think that humour stems from nothing but intelligence. Intelligence can determine your understanding of humour, but whether you consider it funny is… at the very root more of a psychological sorta thingy, no? Let’s call you “mature”. Putting together random “X-crap” is so immature that you feel soiled, you need to close your browser down, take a shower, go back in and make a comment about how insulted you feel that he shoved this in your face, and then refer to him as “the guy”. I think you should follow your own advice on step one: seek help. Slight exaggeration. Parts of “maturity” are overrated, which you probably figured out already since (I assume) you’re following James’ videos closely here. Just know that others would be able to quote you, and repost the same thing, but pointed at you instead. If you’re watching James’ “funny” videos and consider them funny, chances are the “higher society” (the higher, or perhaps more outdated version of you) will look at you as one of these horrible, HORRIBLE double digit IQ people. Actually, I consider you more of a dumb fuck than these other so called idiots. As far as I’m concerned, they’re all right until they make an unnecessary and rude comment. If the comment is also misinformed, oh, I just can’t help myself sometimes. Dumb fuck. It’d be sweet if James’ said that to you directly and send you far far away from here, but he’d do the right thing and just ignore you.
Mmmh… this is overly redundant for a response to trolling, and probably won’t even be read, but when I’m at it I obsess… sorry. I tried to keep it as short as possible, sorry for taking up space. :( Hope no one other than Leshrac read, and hope that “that” no one took offense, and I hope that you, Leshrac, didn’t take much offense, I don’t really know you. I enjoyed it though, thanks. Spawned many branching topics in my mind. No one make a comment about wasting my time. I will have your head! Buh…

  218. RetroGamer3 May 23, 2009 @ 2:00 am

    Awesome to the max.
I laughed some so much I has to cast the pause spell.

  220. Neveneth May 27, 2009 @ 8:57 pm

  224. Biff May 30, 2009 @ 6:35 pm

That game looks too complicated to be fun, but if I had a intelligent gamer buddy like you , sure I would set down and play it. Most people just aren’t “cool” like that.

  231. Dannyp June 17, 2009 @ 7:06 pm

Don’t know if anyones pointed this out but the wizard didn’t actually slaughter a wolf for his head wear. He spent some time as a wolf for his magical training or something, he does explain this to the elf who expresses his disaproval in true peta stylie. Man i was obsessed with that video!! even recorded my own version on my talkboy! Now thats rock n roll!!

  232. AtomicJoe June 18, 2009 @ 2:29 pm

This is great, I remember seeing advertisements for Dragon Strike in comic books when I was a kid. I always wondered what it was all about lol.

  233. p_phelps June 18, 2009 @ 6:23 pm

I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one reminded of “Atmosfear” while watching this video. That game also had a weird person narrating, whom reminded me of Emperor Palpatine. I had a hard time playing the game due to the fact I was laughing so hard every time the narrator interrupted the game. Plus, he’s a huge bag of dicks.

  234. TREV592 June 22, 2009 @ 2:47 pm

AWSOMENESS, WHERE CAN I FIND THIS BOARD GAME.

  235. AVGNFAN22 June 24, 2009 @ 8:07 pm

that’s an awesome video cant wait to see the next one i wonder which board game it will be

  236. gregg827 June 24, 2009 @ 11:43 pm

Totally accurate. I, too, have this game and never played it the way it was supposed to be played. I just made up my own personal board RPGs using the little monster guys.

Another really funny thing is your game closet. My closet had Dragon Strike, Key to the Kingdom, and the Zelda board games all in the same arrangement that you have yours. I guess every guy that was a kid in the 90s was the same!

  237. aaronlightner June 25, 2009 @ 1:07 am

That parrtt with the thief n’ the warrior competing over the shortest skirt and the glam rock band is awesome!!!!! By the way could anyone tell me the name of that song lead singed by the warrior?? XD

But seriously…. anyone?? That song left a permanent souund on my mind!

  238. KaitBunny June 25, 2009 @ 11:24 am

Although I love Spoony’s take on DragonStrike, I like the fact that yours is so much more condensed and far more goofy.

    Rock on.

  239. Jel-K June 27, 2009 @ 7:25 am

I had the same problem with Hero Quest ;)

  240. misosama June 28, 2009 @ 5:47 am

    This was SO FUNNY xD

PLEASE OH PLEASEEEEEEEE review Atmosfear!!!! I think it’s known as Nightmare in America? I have nearly all of the games and I can see you reviewing it :D

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=en-GB&v=zk0IIdJwbKg

And also please review Rap Rat, another VHS game. The interesting thing on the VHS is that the timer is the screen filled with cheese, which the rat slowly eats. When the cheese is gone, the game is over!

    http://shop.vintagetoybox.co.uk/images/RAPRAT.jpg

  241. misosama June 28, 2009 @ 5:48 am

Damn, reading the other comments it seems everyone knows about Atmosfear. YAY

    BOARD JAMES.

I never played Dragonstrike personally, but I got the same reaction from my friends whenever I wanted to play Heroquest or Spacecrusade or Atmosphere which also game with a tape that you had to talk to during the game even tho you knew it couldn’t hear you :s

Great Reviews James! Keep em coming!

  250. mindgame21 July 10, 2009 @ 2:15 pm

The warrior also played Motoro on the second mortal combat movie!!

Hahahha I remember this crazy ass game!!! it was exactly that way too!! my cousin had it and we would watch the movie then everybody would be like fuck this game!!! i used to get a kick out of the movie and just watch that goofy shit instead of playing the game!!

    james,
understandably there would be not a whole hell of a lot of time to go into table top games but some one seriously should review WH40k. It almost seems as if one needs a PHD just to play basic versions of these games. personally i feel that understanding and being able to play should not take longer than the game itself. seriously,

    IT FUCKING BOGGLES MY MIND!

  253. Deathbringer from the sky August 23, 2009 @ 7:49 pm

    ALSO…..
I agree with Milespace. Leshrac if you don’t like what you see then by all means aufwieder sehen, you keep going on and on about how james and everyone who enjoys his humor are retarded. yet you yourself are wasting so much of our and your time, that this action in its self requires of me to tell you that you need to raise your i.q. points to a three digit number and to put it quite simply in james “style”go fuck the rampant putrid shit that falls out of your own anus, nut in it and digest said fecal matter. no body…….and i do mean nobody feels off put or in anyway discouraged twards james about your psycho babel, seriously just because you believe (and i do know you did not say this but) we all must be stuck in good ole sigfrieds anal retentive stage does not mean that you should feel obligated to belittle us. my guess is that you’re probably some 13 year old kid deciding that now you’re about to go into school again and you want to use all the new and big words you learned last year to take out your nerdy aggression before you go back and massacre all those who have wronged you. let me end by saying dude you need HELP.

I see a lot of people mentioning VHS board games, so I’ll throw one out that has yet to be mentioned; Star Trek: The Next Generation Interactive VCR Board Game – A Klingon Challenge. I owned this game as a kid, and I loved it. Basically the Enterprise is taken over by a Klingon while most of the crew is on leave, and the players are the only crew members, who must gain access to the bridge and stop the Klingon. You play the game while the tape is playing. Every so often, the Klingon interrupts and gives instructions to the players. If the tape finishes before someone makes it to the bridge, everyone loses. You should check it out, James, being a “casual Star Trek fan.”

  260. garvensman October 6, 2009 @ 6:44 pm

I actually had this game too…. never did play it, but the video was hilarious. Good stuff, I like the idea of the board games. Have you ever heard or seen the Ghostbusters board game? I remember it being kinda creepy, and you had to climb a tower that had traps and whatnot, along with a skull that fell down a hole or something like that. Great game though. Oh, and while I’m at it, if you don’t have one, Look up the Action Max “videogame” console… it had vhs tapes for games, and a zapper kind of thing with sensors etc.

  261. Soulreaper October 21, 2009 @ 1:38 pm

Hahaha, never heard of the game… but you presented it very well. :D

    Good job James.
