I always alsked myself how Peter Jackson get the filming rights for Lord of the rings with these kind of movies in his filmography…

One of my favorite horror films. The first time I saw this, I just sat in my seat in wow. How many gallons of fake blood were used in the filming of this movie? lol Really good flick. Must see for anyone who’s a fan of horror/zombie/peter jackson. How do you go from this o lotr?

Ok. Brain Dead AND Monster Squad are going on my NetFlix account for Halloween. Thanks for telling me about this! I always marveled at the old school gore (I fucking hate CGI) and this looks like the holy grail of old school gore… Damn!

Wow I have had vhs and dvd copy of this movie since I can remember. I’m from NZ and am a huge fan of NZ cult movies. James you should definatly look out for the other Peter Jackson films Meet the feebles and my favorite movie Bad Taste. True kiwi madness and greatness there

It’s called ‘Dead Alive’ because there was already another crappy movie called ‘Brain Dead’ directed by the same guy who did ‘Night of the Demons’, Kevin Tennay I think his name is. Anyway, the uncle was my favorite character in the whole movie. He’s such a smug asshole, blackmailing the main character (forgot his name, Lyle was it?) and has one of the best slaughter scenes in the movie. He got his just desserts.

I watched this movie sooo many times! It’s hilarious!

I think this is a pretty curious point: in spain, it has two titles. It was also called “tu madre se ha comido a mi perro”, which means “your mother has eaten my dog”
you can see it in this picture:

most of people I know call it that way.

“I kick Arse for the lord”

After watching your review and being disgusted by the images I saw I just knew I had to see this movie.

I watched it, and I absolutely love it. It’s so over the top and nasty and crazy and very funny. Its now my favorite horror/slasher movie.

Awesome review and I agree with Morgatron completely. Between this movie, Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles, Peter Jackson definitely takes it to the edge on all fronts. I would love to hear the review on Meet the Feebles.

This movie has all the slap-stick of a British comedy, and all the blood and gore of a Sam Raimi horror film: it’s like a mix between Fawlty Towers and Dawn of the Dead.

    I fucking love this film!

I have seen this movie soooo many times. The gore is so over the top it makes me laugh. Gotta love the final scene. Using a lawn mower will never be the same again.
