    *always
Little spell check for you spell masterbaters.

  3. Spazz Master October 27, 2009 @ 3:06 am

    Really? Food for thought?

How ’bout: “Now that’s what I call brain food!”

Or “Now that’s some fuck right there”…a-a brain eating…people…

    …good job, man.

  4. guitarhero1000 October 27, 2009 @ 3:09 am

Cant believe I missed this one! Nasty little thing isnt it?!

  5. Bandaka October 27, 2009 @ 3:12 am

    Its Krang!

  6. IisAwesomepie October 27, 2009 @ 3:14 am

Krang wasn’t in the live action Turtles movies because they were trying to stick to the comics…minus all the blood and death.

  7. Bandaka October 27, 2009 @ 3:16 am

This movie is proof they could have done a decent Krang for one of the turtles films…great review James!

  8. cmonMan October 27, 2009 @ 3:16 am

Nice video James. Specially the Intro :)

  9. Y. A-H. October 27, 2009 @ 3:18 am

That triangular wipe out transition is going to haunt me for many nights.

I mean really, what was with the 80s and all its spiffy transitions?! Have you ever watched that awesome Yngwie Malmsteen 80s solo thing he did live? There was SO MANY weird 80s transitions and spinning cubes and all crazy stuff going on.

    I secretly love it.

  10. Blood Pump October 27, 2009 @ 3:19 am

Huh, can’t say I remember this one. Looks like a funny one though. The special effects don’t look like much, but hell I’d probably watch it just for the cheese factor.

Looks like there’s only three days left, which leaves room for one more 80’s flick, unless your doing two for the 90’s and one for the current decade (or visa versa).

  11. tomc1980 October 27, 2009 @ 3:21 am

I gonna have to watch this one lol looks nice and cheesy.

  12. Karate Kid Icarus October 27, 2009 @ 3:27 am

Futurama in one of their episodes, The Day the Earth Stood Stupid, sort of did a homage to this. The Teenager in the car you just seen can be seen similar to Fry in the Episode I am speaking of where Fry is the one that is kind of immune.

    Cheers

  13. thewikidclown October 27, 2009 @ 3:28 am

The brain creature kinda reminds me of the creature from the movie Brain Damage, that movie creeped the hell out of me as a kid. Im hoping its a part fo this series as it was a horror flick that was just messed up.

  14. blueldrrich84 October 27, 2009 @ 3:28 am

the thing i thought of when you described the plot with the younger protagonist was that it resembled that episode of Futurama in many ways. Fry, the main character, is the only one who can resist the floating brains’ waves (due to his intelligence deficit).

The “attacking brains from outer space” concept, as you pointed out, is a well-established sub-genre of the monster movie in and of itself. So really, the similarities between this and other movies/shows is probably unavoidable. Sort of like a fantasy novel post-Tolkien not displaying even so much as a passing influence in its subject matter.

well done, james. every night ive been watching your monster madness reviews and its a pleasant end to an otherwise dreary day…especially mondays.

    Ciao, my friend

They never used Krang in the TMNT movies because the movie studio only had the rights to the characters created in the comics and not the tv show that came later. This problem left them with pretty much only the Turtles, April, Splinter, Casey Jones and Shredder with the foot clan. They could have probably thrown Baxter Stockman in a movie though as he was from the comic as well.

This same fate hit the newer TMNT cartoon that was shown in the last decade as it too only had the comic book rights and not the rights to the tv shows characters.

The company that owns the tv shows character rights rarely license them which is why we don’t see the old show on tv anymore as well with anything new that uses the old characters. Ubisoft had to jump through a ton of legal hoops just to release the two turtles arcade games on todays consoles and is probably the reason turtles in time was changed so much as it was.

  16. 80sMade October 27, 2009 @ 3:47 am

IisAwesomepie, I guess TMNT 3 didn’t get the memo.

Yo Blood Pump, 4 more MM to go not 3.

  18. Bandaka October 27, 2009 @ 3:56 am

    KRRRAAAAANNNNNGGGG!!!!

  19. Kriztoffer Swank October 27, 2009 @ 3:57 am

Holy damn, I’ve never even heard of this one. Definitely gotta check it out. It reminds me of The Deadly Spawn in some way, ha ha—another cheesy ’80s great. (For any Splatterhouse fans, by the way, the first stage boss in Splatterhouse 2 is modeled after the main creature in Deadly Spawn.)

I gotta say, though: Thank God that Krang didn’t make it into the first TMNT movie, because the film is actually quite faithful to the original Mirage comics, which I adore (combining issues #1, 10, 11, Leonardo #1, and Raphael #1—although they changed April O’Neil into a news reporter, like in the first cartoon, but I guess I don’t mind). Krang was a character from the 1987 cartoon series, although Krang-like aliens do exist in the original comics.

The other two TMNT movies…well, I like to pretend they don’t exist. They could have done so much more had they stuck with a somewhat serious tone and continued following the comics.

  20. Kriztoffer Swank October 27, 2009 @ 4:02 am

Speaking of the TMNT and horror movies…I just noticed something tonight while watching Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV. It’s like my sixth time seeing it, but only now did I realize that Kevin Eastman (co-creator of the TMNT) and his then-wife, Julie Strain have cameos in the film. (”I could die between these breasts.”) Continuing the geekery and making more TMNT connections with Citizen Toxie, Corey Feldman also has a cameo in the movie, and he played the voice of Donatello in the first and third TMNT movies.

And if I want to stretch things and make a THIRD connection, the Toxic Crusaders—the Toxic Avenger cartoon—was created as a cash-in on the TMNT and Captain Planet cartoons back in the early ’90s.

  21. 80sMade October 27, 2009 @ 4:22 am

If anyones has seen James review of TMNT 3 or on the TMNT games than you would know hes a big TMNT fan so there is really no need to get into the history of the flims and comics, it just looked like he was pointing out how the Brain mosnster in this movie looked alot like Krang, also I dont see why TMNT movies from the 90’s couldn’t have went the cartoon style for number 2 and 3, without the 80’s cartoon TMNT would have never hit mainstream like it did and there wouldn’t have even been a live action movie so it seems like he was getting at why not show a little love to the cartoon and throw in Krang, like he said they had the special effects it could have been done…All you TMNT fanboys are looking way to much into the little comment James made in this review lol.

  22. Bandaka October 27, 2009 @ 4:27 am

    Damn you Krang!

  23. Bandaka October 27, 2009 @ 4:28 am

Krang has cuased disharmony in the cinemassacre world.

  24. jazzman October 27, 2009 @ 4:31 am

I like you are choosing movies that are unknown to a lot of horror fans. Good review

  25. Kriztoffer Swank October 27, 2009 @ 4:41 am

80sMade: I’ve actually never seen or heard any comments by James that would imply he’s into the original Mirage comics. Big into the cartoon and toys and movies (well, the first two), sure—but, of all of us who grew up with it, who wasn’t at the time, y’know?

And without the toys and first cartoon, sure, the Turtles likely wouldn’t have become a household name, but they were still exceptionally popular before Eastman and Laird started licensing the property—at least within comic book circles.

Anyway, it’s bullshit you made a big deal out of our comments, so I give you a randy-dandy “fuck you” middle finger, ha ha. (This is in jest, goddamn it—don’t take it personally.)

  26. Kriztoffer Swank October 27, 2009 @ 4:43 am

Also, the movie might have been made anyway, as it was an incredibly low-budget film that was focused on the original comics. It just more than likely wouldn’t have become a smash hit.

  27. Deefmaster October 27, 2009 @ 5:10 am

I have been waiting for someone else to mention it, perhaps I missed it, but I haven’t seen it yet. It’s too good an association to be overlooked.

sunday. Sunday! SUNDAY! At the Nassau Coliseum! I love how he’s channeling classic US Hot Rod Association advertisements with these introductions. Hilarious. Tickets on sale at all Ticketmaster outlets…BE THEREEE!

  28. Henrik October 27, 2009 @ 5:18 am

    Puntastic!

  29. Spokavriel October 27, 2009 @ 5:28 am

Great movie I didn’t even know about this one. And yes it does show that everything needed for Krang was right there and available. Really just change the teeth and rework the scale BOOM there you go.

Is there any way to start a petition say at a Con or something to make it clear to the people who currently own TMNT that we need a new Ninja Turtles movie with Super Shredder and Krang? Maybe even bring in the Techno Drome? Heck after all the tear downs and rebuilds of TGRI properties there’s more than likely sufficient supplies to get started on one in the Junk Yard Shredder first got dumped in.

Wish I had Video stores as well stocked as the movie archives you have access to. They no longer even carry the Child’s Play movies before Bride of Chucky at the place down the street.

  30. dicnar October 27, 2009 @ 5:30 am

I remember that i saw the whole final scene as a kid. You know a giant brain chaising after the boy and the girl in that warehouse. And I never knew the name of that movie until recent. Great one I must say.

  31. Filmmassacre October 27, 2009 @ 5:38 am

I finally bought this movie on amazon.co.uk and i loved this movie!
And i agree whit you James it’s one of the best movies that starts whit “The”
5 stars out of 5 for the movie
    5 stars for the review!

Kriztoffer Swank- The Deadly Spawn was pretty awesome, hope to see that on Monster Madness someday. Thought you might be interested in knowing, the monster from Deadly Spawn “guest-starred” in the movie Star Slammer.

  35. horrorfanboy October 27, 2009 @ 7:11 am

I learned about this movie. Unfortunately there isn’t a DVD for it. Is there?

  36. tescovee October 27, 2009 @ 7:36 am

I remember getting this as a kid at the local video rental place because of the cover. Which in my opinion is better then the movie itself. Its too bad that the folks at MST3K could never afford the rights to riff on this.

I guess I was jaded as a child seeing as I got to see Alien and Aliens at such a young age…9 or 10. That movie made every other scary movie seem low rent.

All in all i remember hating this flick but I can respect you picking it.

  37. Starwarskid October 27, 2009 @ 7:53 am

i rember a while ago i saw this and my friend said the brain slithers around on its tenicals

  38. FinallyGAF October 27, 2009 @ 8:48 am

Here’s another way, how they could have made Krang in the Turtle Movies:

  39. Optics October 27, 2009 @ 8:52 am

    Weird movie lol

  40. NinjaSPEED October 27, 2009 @ 8:59 am

This is like that episode of Futurama with the brains and Fry is immune to them, or rather, the Futurama episode is like this movie.

  41. skeven October 27, 2009 @ 9:07 am

this monster madness is soon ending
i like to know more about the older horror movies

btw in this monstermadness theres is a lot of movies that had an ifluance on the “horror”punk band: the misfits
ex: poster of the crawling eye, the fiend without a face => in this video
    or the doctor phibes movies

  42. MorePAIN October 27, 2009 @ 9:09 am

Yeah wtf why didnt they include Krang in those movies. They shoulda just used this prop. I woulda been fine with that lol

  43. mylrtym October 27, 2009 @ 10:06 am

Oh Can-a-da! Our home of low budget and unintentionally hilarious horror movies! Haha, for other Canadian 80’s horror goodness check out “The Brood”, “Shivers, and “Rabid”. All were made in Canada and directed by David Cronenberg who also directed “Scanners”, “The Dead Zone” and “The Fly”.

  44. silleeel October 27, 2009 @ 10:23 am

Can i make a suggestion for your next horror film review! You should really review Sleepaway Camp it is considered a cult classic and one of the most shocking endings ever in the horror film genre!

I don’t think you’ve ever reviewed it so far and was wondering what your thoughts on it were!

Oh James c’mon, give us Critters!!

  47. theworldisyours October 27, 2009 @ 12:00 pm

This movie remembers me one chapter from futurama in wich brains came from the space , controling minds , and the onlyone who had the power to defeat them was fry , because he was so dumb that the brains coulsn’t attac him , oviulsly it’s a parody .

well James , good work , keep going like that and i’m loking back tomorrow for another Monster madness .

    From Argentina

  49. Bandaka October 27, 2009 @ 12:49 pm

The Brain also kind of looks like a chomp chomp from Mario Bros.

  50. Darth Davius October 27, 2009 @ 1:10 pm

It’s looks like a giant madball (remember madballs cards?)

by the way, the closest krang we get in the movies is that form invaders from mars, the tobe hoper version.

  51. Bubba HoTep October 27, 2009 @ 1:23 pm

James you big ‘ol NERD!! Your reviews are pretty good, however–the very best thing about monster madness is the way you announce it in the beginning—”Its Cinemassacre’s MMMMMMMMMMMMMMoooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnssssssssssssssssterrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Maaaaaaaaaaaa—-aaaaaaaaaaaaaa—-aaaaaaaaaaaaa—aaaaaaaaaaaaadddddd——————nnnee—sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its great. I laugh every time. It just gets better every day. Next time try to squeeze out a fart as youre doin it!!

  52. alaterale October 27, 2009 @ 1:36 pm

Awesome review, I have to check this one out now :)

I know you probably have already chosen all the movies for this year, but might I suggest “Night of the Creeps”? I love that cheesy 80s movie :D

  53. SpiffyDragon13 October 27, 2009 @ 1:40 pm

never heard of this one, gonna have to check it out

  54. Domcoccaro October 27, 2009 @ 1:43 pm

I have this one on VHS. Fun flick, great monster. I wonder if James has seen Head of the Family.

  55. avgnfan3 October 27, 2009 @ 2:00 pm

on the contrary bubba hotep, his voice intro is getting ridiculous and cheesy, he sounds like a retard.

  56. FreddysFingers October 27, 2009 @ 2:57 pm

I have a VHS of this… but never looked into it. Perhaps I should.

  57. InkedUp October 27, 2009 @ 3:13 pm

I can easily say I’ve never seen this film at all.
I never saw it on cable nor did I see it at the video store on the shelf.

  58. drunkmun October 27, 2009 @ 3:16 pm

He looks like E.T on steroids. :)

  59. reddeath88 October 27, 2009 @ 3:20 pm

The reason why Krang was not in any of the TMNT movies is that the movies were based more on the origin 1984 comics .

  60. Kriztoffer Swank October 27, 2009 @ 4:08 pm

Jehauri: Star Slammer, eh? Gonna have to give that one a whirl someday, heh. I see it’s a Fred Olen Ray film, so it’s gotta be pretty good.

  61. Ed Sigma October 27, 2009 @ 4:57 pm

Nice one, as you say you’re under no illusions about what you’re getting into when you see a movie simply called “The Brain”. Though this isn’t my favourite killer brain movie it’s still fun. My favourite is actually “Fiend Without a Face”, mainly because it has loads of crawling stop motion brains instead of one massive one like here, it’s great!

  62. Jigglysaint October 27, 2009 @ 5:44 pm

Haha, oh this one eh? Fun fact: I live in the city that this film was shot in. My brother even attended the high school that was used for some of locations. Heh, I was wondering why that road looked so familiar. I gotta see it and see what I recognize.

  63. Jigglysaint October 27, 2009 @ 5:54 pm

Uh, scratch that. My brother didn’t go to that school. It was my girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend who went there. Heck, I pass by that place at least once a week. Also, those houses are sooo Medowvale.

  64. xdeathknightx October 27, 2009 @ 7:43 pm

Looks pretty awesome, and they should have used this one for Krang! And I will admit that the first thing going through my head was: “What are we going to do tonight Brain?” “The same we do every night pinky, try and take over the world”

  65. joliet_jane October 27, 2009 @ 9:03 pm

I too love the incrementally bestial progression on the “MMMMMONNNNSTERRR MMMAAAADDDDNESSSSS” title intro.

I’m going to miss these updates so much :’-)

  66. RevolverOcelot007 October 27, 2009 @ 9:15 pm

I cant find this movie in Netflix.

  67. Pedro Feijó October 27, 2009 @ 9:27 pm

The monster on this movie really looks scary, even in the cheesy way.

anyway, this probably it isn’t the place but I think would be nice to post it here for you to see. It’s a brazilian commercial from a cellphone company that hired Coffin Joe to do the add

Coffin Joe line: “On the last wednesday of the month it’s ‘Dia Claro’ and I’ll take the soul of one friend to the darkness of cinema.”

ps: “Dia Claro” it’s the name of the ad, bright day in english, “Claro” it’s the name of the cellphone company that did this commercial.

great job James…maybe this wasn’t the best place to put it but…whatever…

I’m suprised you didn’t mention Krang in the Basket Case review.

  72. ekaderk October 27, 2009 @ 11:12 pm

    Wow,

I felt and overwhelming sense to post something, that is a rare case for me…

I must say I am impressed. I found this movie on VHS over a year ago and thought only about 10 people knew it existed. I didn’t think it was great but funny and entertaining. A fun discovery.

Another great one, which also has David Gale, is Syngenor: Synthesized Genetic Organism (1990). Very funny and entertaining.

  73. TeacupAss October 28, 2009 @ 12:06 am

This is the first movie you’ve done for Monster Madness this year I haven’t heard of, along with the Pajama one.

  74. Bloodletskeleton October 28, 2009 @ 12:18 am

Dammit, I’m the only one that can’t view it -_- and this is the only problem I have ever had in viewing any of these.

  75. ChrisCtan October 28, 2009 @ 1:50 am

Oh dammit James, I discovered this film a few weeks ago because I love love LOVE LOVE killer brain movies! and now you’ve made me want to see it even more!!

brain from planet arous and fiend without a face are also great IMO, the latter especially (very freaky and weird!). Ah How I miss the giant killer brain micro-genre…

  76. Iron Tiger October 28, 2009 @ 2:51 am

I can’t believe no one here has made this joke. Well let me be the first:

“A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but this brain needs to be wasted fast”. HAHAHAHA!!! XP

  77. Ben_from_G-town October 28, 2009 @ 6:45 am

Wow, looks like a fun movie! You are right that it sucks that Krang isn’t in the TMNT movies and they have no excuse!

  78. Martin Ekdahl October 28, 2009 @ 9:16 am

Hah.. that’s one ugly son of a bitch. Krang was always my favorite TMNT villain even if I liked Baxter a whole deal too. Other great brain villains are the Mother Brain in Metroid (of course) and the Brain boss in Life Force.

  79. The Don of Louisville October 28, 2009 @ 1:47 pm

I think the deal with Krang is he’s a little creepy, no? To make a realistic disembodied organ in a kid’s movie would probably scare younger kids. Also, for the first few episodes, the Turtles didn’t know about Krang. The movie didn’t cover the abandoned mansion, so Michelangelo never discovered Krang. They were trying to follow the Turtles, so you were in their position. If they don’t know about Krang, you don’t. The logic behind that is flawed, but so are movie producer’s.

  80. marclawson October 28, 2009 @ 1:55 pm

you say “cinemassacre’s monster madness” like a wrestling announcer. hilarious.

  81. pyromcr October 28, 2009 @ 6:57 pm
