you know whats bullllllllshittttt…. taxes and insurance all kinds fuck them

  2. FouCapitan February 24, 2009 @ 8:57 pm

Serious bullshit. Free HBO should be mandatory for hotels. Too bad HBO doesn’t have shit on it anymore.

  3. I_am_Batman February 24, 2009 @ 9:01 pm

I’m glad to see another episode of “Bullshit”. This is one of my favorite skit’s you do. Thanks James.

  4. syntheticsw February 24, 2009 @ 9:10 pm

I hate Bullshit, but i like
    your “Bullshit” Videos :-)

    Why was the Cinemassacre Website
    down so long ?

    Will the contract changes have
any effect on the public, less AVGN videos
    for example ?

  5. masterj1412 February 24, 2009 @ 9:14 pm

From my experience, hotels usually put some kinda lock on the back of the tv to keep you from connecting anything.

I remember back when the Gamecube launched, I actually was staying in a Marriot that was nice enough to take the lock off for me so I could play my Gamecube. That was awesome!

  6. j_z1028 February 24, 2009 @ 9:20 pm

The other day I was wondering why you didn’t have any STAR WARS reviews. Can’t wait to see ‘em.

  7. zedrein February 24, 2009 @ 9:24 pm

Yep, that is big time BULLSHIT. I think the other reason hotels only have tv’s with the RF jack is because they are cheaper (and they also make it convenient for them to screw us by forcing us to pay for hotel programming)

  8. James February 24, 2009 @ 9:25 pm

No, once the business bullshit is sorted out, the Nerd videos will be back to normal. Trust me, it’ll stay the same as long as I can help it.

The website was down for a whole day, so we’re switching to a new server. We’re sick of that shit.

  9. JulietHudson February 24, 2009 @ 9:26 pm

    Yes yes yes!!

PS: Glad to see cinemassacre up and running :) I got worried for a moment there.

  10. Skullcrusher_1 February 24, 2009 @ 9:34 pm

Haha so freaking true! Actually I had a TV manufactured by this brand called Admiral that I had gotten from Montgomery Ward back in 1993 or something and it was like those hotel room TVs. Only a coax input! Major Bullshit! When I got a PS2 I had to plug it into my VCR!

  11. eastspot February 24, 2009 @ 9:37 pm

Weird, I never thought hotel tvs will be bullshit. I remember staying at Country Inn and Suites and AmericInn and they didn’t have tvs like that. They have all the channels, free internet as advertised and a dvd player. Of course they’re motels.
One hotel I stayed in downtown Kyoto had door keys to power the lights and extra channels cards you pay for.

  12. Bogard February 24, 2009 @ 9:38 pm

Cool, thanks for the update James. I hope everything goes well for your contract change.

  13. hobblinharry February 24, 2009 @ 9:44 pm

Contract change? Do you mean like your AVGN videos wont be hosted at GameTrailers anymore or something?

  14. You Know What’s Bullshit - Episode 10 | Uncategorized | February 24, 2009 @ 9:47 pm

[...] Here is the original post:  You Know What’s Bullshit – Episode 10 [...]

  15. James February 24, 2009 @ 9:48 pm

No, the term is being renewed. As far as I’m concerned it’s still GameTrailers.

  16. Radelta February 24, 2009 @ 10:00 pm

Luckily all the times i stayed in a hotel i brought my gameboy with me since i didnt wanna pay for those games.
I never even considered bringing my own console.

  17. Shmoo February 24, 2009 @ 10:09 pm

I’ve been to some hotels with av inputs AND free internet, but some without both. Those weird ass N64 controllers always make me laugh.

  18. kaishaku February 24, 2009 @ 10:15 pm

My friends usually bring an HDTV with them for this reason. ;)

  19. Samus2008 February 24, 2009 @ 10:18 pm

so no video tonight? can someone clairfy? james? lol

  20. Deefmaster February 24, 2009 @ 10:21 pm

Hilarious. Hotel Ass… I think that’s in Atlantic City.

  21. KP Love February 24, 2009 @ 10:25 pm

Another great episode of “Bullshit”! And, I’m lookin’ foward to the new Nerd videos, as well. ~_^

  22. Cless Aileron February 24, 2009 @ 10:26 pm

Oh man! I remember stuff like that when I had to go on a family road trip back in summer 2004. I remember bringing my Gamecube along, specifically because I got a certain RPG for the system the week before the trip took place. It was fine since I played it using the van we used for the trip and the first few motels we stayed in had the proper RCA cable connection. My parents ended up commenting that I should have brought my PS2 with me to use for DVD movies while in the motel room. Then later motels we stayed at threw the BS the video mentioned. No RCA cable connection, RF connection and entertainment from motel only. Ugh! So much for playing my RPG in the motel. And that idea to use a PS2 as a DVD player is now out the window, even without bringing it.

I also get the feeling they are also too cheap to upgrade the TV for that reason (Not to mention, no HD for you!). Well, it’s not like I’m going to bring my 360 with me on any road trip anyway.

  23. thebeatles94 February 24, 2009 @ 10:30 pm

I guess you should pack one of those boxes that has RCA connectors and just plug in two coaxial cables (one from the wall, one to the TV) so you can around not having the proper connections. I remember being at a hotel with a GameCube. It was actually a controller that must’ve connected to some huge box somewhere in the hotel. Didn’t bother wasting the money luckily.

But you know what else is bullshit? Free wireless Internet… from routers that are either 100 feet away from you or are password-protected and nobody working at the hotel knows the password.

  24. Abeofempires February 24, 2009 @ 10:32 pm

Yeah that is bullshit! Fortunately I have always gotten free internet at any hotel I have stayed in. Thank goodness for WiFi! Those N64 controllers are shit..They never worked for me!

  25. Big Angry Nerd February 24, 2009 @ 10:42 pm

If only it was still the Nintendo days. Remember in The Wizard where he’s playing the Nintendo in the hotel room?

  26. barneythedinosaur February 24, 2009 @ 10:48 pm

    hotel ass lol

  27. JiLLe February 24, 2009 @ 10:49 pm

I actually have an Emerson TV from 1999 with no adapters on the front. In fact, I can’t even have my PS2 and DVD player plugged in at the same time. That, my friend, is Bullshit! :)

  28. The Bear February 24, 2009 @ 10:50 pm

Hotel Ass was god damn hilarious. It’s usually the little things. Good video, yet again.

  29. kaishaku February 24, 2009 @ 11:00 pm

I have a cheap Emerson TV as well. On the zug.com forums, they’ve got a Poet-based curse filtering going on, and “asshole” is automatically replaced with “Emerson.”

I always make the opposite association and chuckle when I see the logo on the TV.

  30. jsc February 24, 2009 @ 11:07 pm

Funny video. i dont travel much so i never noticed that. Thanks for the updates as well.

  31. You Can Just Walk Over It February 24, 2009 @ 11:26 pm

I stayed at a hotel last October, and they had that weird N64 controller wired to the TV like the video briefly showed (I knew it was coming up as soon as hotel room TV’s was mentioned), and it completely baffled me for a second, since I thought that out of all the possible accommodations a hotel could provide, they’d be N64 games.

In fact, there apparently were N64 games available through the remote menu with the controller, but it also included movies and other trivial things.

  32. Josh7289 February 24, 2009 @ 11:32 pm

    @JiLLe: PS2 *is* a DVD player.

And yeah, paying for an Internet connection on top of the regular bill truly is bullshit. It’s not like it in any way significantly costs *them* more if I use their connection.

  33. darthkenobi February 24, 2009 @ 11:46 pm

You know what’s Bullshit? Cinemassacre.com being down all day.

  34. Machohervey February 24, 2009 @ 11:51 pm

Man, I bought a TV back in 2000 from Fred Meyer. Now, understand I worked in this store, but not in the actual electronics dept. I got the Tv home and guess what? So I go to electronics and complain the next day, and they act like they can’t understand what the big deal is. Like it even ever crossed my mind to check for that.

  35. Headface February 25, 2009 @ 12:45 am

I’ve wondered this problem myself, but there are many other things that are more bullshit than this. If I’m paying to go somewhere, I sure as hell am not going to be sitting in my hotel room doing something that I can be doing back at home. I say let the console cool off for a bit while you are away.

  36. imastavros February 25, 2009 @ 12:48 am

I JUST found a TV like that TODAY! I spent about an hour cursing at the damn thing and wondering why the fuck they are even made! I COULDN’T HOOK UP MY SNES! So i thought fuck it. I’ll just go cheer myself up by watching something from Cinemassacre. And what do i find?…

    THE SAME BUUUUULLLLLSHIT!

I would gladly donate my piece of carbitch, devil spawned TV for you to demolish.

  37. blk albm February 25, 2009 @ 12:49 am

This video is great. Bullshit pisses me off.

  38. DiggerMc February 25, 2009 @ 12:49 am

    greetz from germany by DMC

  40. beerman February 25, 2009 @ 12:54 am

    Great as usual.
Cant wait for the Star Wars movie review.

  41. Rovlad February 25, 2009 @ 1:17 am

We need our AVGN fix nao, faggot!
But thanks for letting us know it’s on the way.

  42. Mugen February 25, 2009 @ 1:18 am

WoW… What a great start into the day! New “You Know whats bullshit” episode and the message, that you review a Star Wars Movie AND that there will be new AVGN Movies soon.. I totally happy today XD Thanks a lot!

  43. PekoponTAS February 25, 2009 @ 1:39 am

You know you’re desperate when you break out the deck of cards. At least you can always bring a Game Boy or DS.

  44. Jexy February 25, 2009 @ 1:44 am

    hotel ASS hahahaha

  45. Kerf February 25, 2009 @ 1:50 am

Haha another good point like always James. cant wait for your next avgn video.

  46. Rabbitinred February 25, 2009 @ 1:51 am

i LOVE you know what’s bullshit! i always agree with them, and you express yourself so well. you people need to be patient about the nerd videos, good things are worth waiting for!!

  47. Cactusjack1999 February 25, 2009 @ 2:52 am

Yes… There are companies that make TV”s specific for Hotels.

Frankly what I hate is the hotels that put those locks on the TV so that you can’t do anything to them. There apparently is a way to take them off… But I’ve heard that constitutes misuse and they can charge you for “fixing” it at whatever rate they deem fit.

  48. Hoady February 25, 2009 @ 3:01 am

Haha i wasn’t expecting a bullshit episode so soon good stuff man.

  49. Ahmedz February 25, 2009 @ 4:04 am

I’m with ya James. I still remember 5 years ago, I went to Dubai and took my Gamecube with me and when I tried hooking it up to the Hotel room TV, I was like: Where The Fuck is The AV INPUTS?!!

  50. Badly-Drawn Manchild February 25, 2009 @ 5:21 am

Heh, you know I’ve never noticed that about hotel TVs before. Then again, on the very rare occasions I get to go on holiday, TV’s not really a concern of mine, and even when there’s nothing to do I usually have my Game Boy or DS with me.

Very funny indeed though. I’ve always had a soft spot for this series as it appeals to the grumpy old man in all of us. Looking forward to the work you’ve got in the pipeline as well.

  51. likalaruku February 25, 2009 @ 5:38 am

Wow, you’re right. At least they don’t charge for pool, gym, & continental breakfast. I come early & take enough of that shit to feed 3 people, haha.

But I stayed at a hotel for 2 solid weeks due to a statewide blackout in 2007 & had to pay for net access while my parent;s hogged the TV. GREAT way to save money (not!) except that we all ddonfenscated about $200 in free food brom the breakfast area.

  52. usman February 25, 2009 @ 5:57 am

    Cool! 3 AVGN coming soon….

  53. PsychoManiac87 February 25, 2009 @ 7:33 am

    So true.

On my last vacation i brought my PS2 with me, but guess what, shitty TV didn’t have any inputs!

  54. nowhere February 25, 2009 @ 7:45 am

Actually, yes there is a place that just build hotel TV’s. I worked for this company called Lodgenet Entertainment who provides movies and video games to hotels and in order to work with the system they need a special brand of tv that supports the systems cards or set top boxes.

  55. TotalMK February 25, 2009 @ 8:23 am

Hehe I have a story in regards to this, in Australia we don’t have this problem, hotels just buy TVs from the local stores and put them in rooms…so you have full access to the RCA jacks. The first time I went to Los Angeles for E3 we were staying in a hotel and the first thing I noticed was on the TV no RCA jacks…I said to my friends “No way…there has to be jacks in some weird spot or something everything uses RCA and what if I want to watch video footage back that I have taken on my trip…there just has to be inputs!!” Lesson learned….USA doesn’t give you RCA jacks. THATS BULLSHIT.

  56. DESandman February 25, 2009 @ 8:36 am

I work for a big franchise motel chain. All of our TVs have the connections for games and DVDs. We buy ours from Walmart and Target. I actually had to help a guest hook up ther Wii one night.

  57. Bradax24 February 25, 2009 @ 9:01 am

Funny thing is, I’ve noticed this since I was a kid, and there was only one hotel that did offer the convenience of RCA inputs, and it was in Annapolis MD, and was an LCD tv. So I’d say make sure the hotel rooms have HD tvs, otherwise, just bring a portable DVD player.

  58. Optics February 25, 2009 @ 9:14 am

Haha, that is bullshit indeed. I’ve had several experiences with that myself, it’s one of the only things I dread when going on vacation: figuring out what to do in the hotel room.

  59. ubiquitous February 25, 2009 @ 9:15 am

    How haughty.

  60. NY4Cinemassacre February 25, 2009 @ 9:35 am

How true, how true! But you want to know what else is bullshit, Valentine’s Day, The Oscars, Hollywood, listen I could go on forever on what else is bullshit but until then I’ll be patient.

  61. moist February 25, 2009 @ 9:50 am

When i stayed at a hotel in Tokyo there was free wlan, but i could only access it from the lobby but hey better than to pay 5-10$ for access. AND the tv had regular connections :)

But yeah.. almost every hotel tv sucks. I guess i was just lucky.

  62. Zimra February 25, 2009 @ 10:14 am

I got lucky when I was in a hotel in Tokyo too. They had free internet in the lobby which you could access, assuming that group of 12 year old FF7 fans weren’t hogging the computers all day (they only went outside once to buy Final Fantasy perfume).

Me and my brother bought a PS3 from Akihabara on a whim. Thank god the TV had the proper inputs, because I didn’t bother checking before hand. I think I would have cried if I had to wait 3 weeks to play it.

  63. Hallwings February 25, 2009 @ 10:24 am

Of course, you won’t be able to go to Circuit City much longer, since they’re going out of business. They’ve already closed all the stores in the Phoenix area.

  64. Henrik February 25, 2009 @ 10:45 am

Couldn’t agree more on the Hotel TVs -.-

And a big ass Star Wars review? :D :D:D:D

Have waited for ages for you to comment on them, can’t wait :D

  65. Barry February 25, 2009 @ 10:54 am

Washington D.C. hotel room tv’s are bullshit. I stayed in one last year, swank place, awesome room and big HD tv. The bullshit came when I realized that the HD tv settings were locked and the tv was set to letterbox channels that were already 16:9. So I tried to watch Lethal Weapon and everybody’s heads looked like Stewie Griffin. Also, there were no a/v inputs, I didn’t need to use them but I noted that they were missing.

  66. Rabbitinred February 25, 2009 @ 11:18 am

cmon people you cant figure out what to do in a hotel room?? lol.

  67. cabbagehead February 25, 2009 @ 11:25 am

My family used to drive to the Rockies every winter so we could have a white Christmas. One year I got a PS1 and spent the night playing Gran Turismo.

Oddly, I’ve only encountered the charge for wireless internet at expensive convention hotels. Most of the family-run places I stay at have it free. Most of the time, the only use I have for a TV in a hotel room is checking the Weather Channel to find out the driving conditions for the next day.

  68. Crazy Eyed Gamer February 25, 2009 @ 12:41 pm

    thats bulshit :P

  69. insich February 25, 2009 @ 12:54 pm

you know what’s BULLSHIT? that’s James Rolfie posts everything else, except new AVGN videos. and that’s bullshit!

  70. Richard Wesker February 25, 2009 @ 1:16 pm

Hell yeah, I think this is one of your better YKWB? vids. I friggin’ hate hotels in general, but what I hate most about them is their friggin’ televisions! BULLSHIT!!!!!!

  71. Moshtank February 25, 2009 @ 1:20 pm

    ha calm your anus!
    classic

  72. StrayFelisCatus February 25, 2009 @ 1:32 pm

Once, when I went to a hotel, I kid you not, the TV had DIALS. Yes, DIALS. Dang, that’s old.

  73. JiLLe February 25, 2009 @ 1:40 pm

    @Josh

That’s true, except for some reason my PS2 controller goes all crazy when I try to watch a DVD and I inherited said PS2 from my older brother so everytime I want to watch an R rated movie, it asks for a code number that I don’t know but can’t even type in because the controller is ass.

Which is the reason it’d be nice to have a DVD player. :)

  74. DJgrandPaH February 25, 2009 @ 3:22 pm

Well, my TV has it on the back :D It’s a Mark btw :D

  75. kitkatbar3003 February 25, 2009 @ 4:36 pm

I have a TV with only a coax jack too. It also says ‘commercial skip.’ Whatever that means.

I also hate hotels that say ‘FREE INTERNET’ in bold yellow lettering but then there’s some stupid disclamer in small text at the bottom that says you have to pay. False advertising ftl.

    btw giv me agvn nao

  76. Flitzy February 25, 2009 @ 4:39 pm

Not all hotels have no AV. I remember like 7 or 6 years ago I was able to play Vice City on a hotel TV in Cape Cod.

  77. supa360 February 25, 2009 @ 4:51 pm

Funny bullshit as usual, great point too.

Make sure you get a good deal on that contract.

I’d offer you a long term deal worth a couple million :P .

  78. tombert February 25, 2009 @ 4:58 pm

Actually, I own a TV by RCA (ironically enough) that was made in 1993 that doesn’t have RCA inputs. Cheapest way nowadays to play my games was to find some dude getting rid of his VCR and use it as a converter, since most VCRs have RCA-in an Coaxle out.

  79. Frizl February 25, 2009 @ 5:20 pm

You know what else is bullshit? I actually was at a hotel the other day with my Xbox and they had RCA inputs on the TV. They purposely disabled them to encourage purchasing PPV or playing their pay to play in room video games.

  80. Noelle February 25, 2009 @ 5:23 pm

Hey everyone I’m a new fan of James Rolfe. Does anyone wanna chat, my AIM is StarChild4Jesus and Yahoo is Christiana_Noelle

  81. electronsexparty February 25, 2009 @ 5:30 pm

I’ve done the adapter thing before. (I went to Wal-Mart and bought one. I spent about $15 bucks just to watch DVD’s in the hotel room.)

However, I have stayed in a hotel with a DVD player and good cable channels (even free porn!). One of them even had this bad ass mural on the wall that reacted with the black light they had installed overhead and three porn channels! These weren’t no fancy-schmancy hotels neither. They were clean and cheap.

  82. NrDesign February 25, 2009 @ 5:45 pm

Yeah, you always get those stinky little things, that horrify the rest of the day!
It’s GREAT to see, that everything is common all over the world! ;)

    Keep it up!

    Greetz from Germany

  83. RYGAR February 25, 2009 @ 5:52 pm

That’s Fuckin funny! Total bullshit.. I threw my back out once pulling the cabinet back to hook up my PS3 (I have both TV connections, cable and AV cables). It pissed me off. I just wanted to watch a DVD.

  84. gorillazboy64 February 25, 2009 @ 6:03 pm

Dude so true. That is indeed bullshit

  85. buff_drinklots February 25, 2009 @ 6:06 pm

I used to live out of a hotel for a while. I was lucky though, my room had a DVD player AND free internet connection. This was in Japan though, that’s how they roll. If you are traveling around and don’t want to pack extra shit like game consoles and what not, just bring some booze along, get drunk and order room service.

  86. Darkly_Dreaming_85 February 25, 2009 @ 6:23 pm

    That is indeed entirely bullshit.

You know what else is BUUUUULLLLSHIIIT?! Remote controls. The little batteries in them always have to be replaced, and they’re always those shitty AAA batteries. You know, the kind that you can’t use for much else. Seriously, we have wireless game controllers that take AA, look at the Wii remote! And speaking of batteries, why don’t they just make everything AA or bigger? AAA batteries get lost, kids can swallow them, and they’re harder to find in the store than AA batteries. They’re not that powerful and they burn out faster, which is a load of AAAss. Or a load of Bullshit, your choice.

  87. Quantum Wolf February 25, 2009 @ 6:29 pm

    Awesome bullshit!

I’ve dying for you to do a Star Wars review for a long while. Hopefully it’ll be a Star Wars-a-thon showcasing all 6 main movies.

  88. VGRetro February 25, 2009 @ 6:30 pm

That was funny! I’m guessing that if the next AVGN is a history lesson, perchance will it be about the Video Game Crash of ‘83? That would entertain a lot of people, and would also give you the chance to ‘voice’ the god-awfulness of E.T. without having to review it.

  89. Cinemysteria February 25, 2009 @ 7:08 pm

THAT”S BULLSHIT!!!!! AWESOME BULLSHIT!!!!! This video made my day!!!! And it’s true too!!! Just like always!!!!

  90. myk1217 February 25, 2009 @ 7:09 pm

Sweet! I like the “Bullshit” videos, and this is a good time to post one with the absence of the Nerd, since YKWBS uses simlar humour as AVGN and appeals best to fans of AVGN. Though we don’t have AVGN at the moment, this is a good substitute to quench our hunger. Good stuff as always, James!

  91. Niall Bradley February 25, 2009 @ 7:13 pm

hi from Ireland,James buddy more details about this contract change please?…jus sayin i hope you make more money for your work and i hope to see even more avgn vids and others cheers man,oh yea it would be cool to see you do a st patricks day vid

  92. Sweven February 25, 2009 @ 7:16 pm

    You know what’s bullshit????

    The current AVGN vids delay!!!

  93. vedrick February 25, 2009 @ 7:56 pm

James, you forgot to add that most hotels actually put a slip-ring on the coaxial cable to prevent you from unscrewing it. I had to buy a special tool to do the job ( I live in hotels most of the time and need to game)

On the few TV’s I’ve found that do have an RCA input, there is no way to access the video-in channel on the TV without bringing a universal remote or getting the master remote from the hotel!

    That’s Bullshit!

  94. ToxinGames February 25, 2009 @ 7:58 pm

I have always loved this series. That was a great ‘Bullshit’ James!

  95. Green Hell February 25, 2009 @ 8:02 pm

    Oh Genesis 3,
    You are small, indeed!
    With your shrunk, compact state,
    You are truly great!

    But SNES was still better.

  97. BlueGemini February 25, 2009 @ 8:50 pm

On times like that, I would bring along with me an handheld console like PSP. That would keep my boredom away at least, hehehe!

  98. KingKombat February 25, 2009 @ 9:01 pm

I feel your pain. MY solution was to bring one of those little mini TVs that are fit to play on that EXACT game console. Usually, you can put any source of RCA in those, as was with my MadCatz gamecube TV. But taht had to be the only source of my entertainment. But yeah, I was pissed off when I saw thoe TVs without RCA. It’s a conspiracy.

  99. Cloba February 25, 2009 @ 9:16 pm

Man, that really sucks ass. I really hate when companies really leech off of you like that. Lousy, money grubbing, greedy bastards.

  100. Great Scott! February 25, 2009 @ 9:35 pm

Oh man, Star Wars? I can’t wait for that, not only have you never reviewed anything Star Wars-related yet, but I haven’t even heard as much as an inane reference to it. The closest you got was the brief overview of that 32x game, and the poster in your room, as well as the footage from the NES game in your latest intro (which I actually thought was pretty good). Hope it’s soon!

  101. Red Devil February 25, 2009 @ 10:15 pm

Great BullShit, and I have noticed that many hotels do this. What’s worse is when they have a DVD rental kiosk which has the worse selections and ridiculous prices.

    @Rovlad- That was unnecessary.

  102. mikohazuki February 25, 2009 @ 11:30 pm

It’s funny, because I used to work in a resort convention hotel and encountered people griping about paying for wifi and not being able to hook anything to their TVs all the time. The cherry on top of the shit sundae is that the hotel didn’t even provide a channel guide in any rooms… you had to find the TV Guide channel to find out what channels you do and don’t have. Yes, that is indeed bullshit.

  103. poisontongue February 25, 2009 @ 11:31 pm

    Yes! Thank you!

It is a crock of shit. And I’ve had some of those coaxials. Fuck coaxial. And fuck the hotels, with their crap. The only system I ever carry on the road is my Game Boy/DS, because I know not even to bother. Because I’m not paying them so I can play games I already own… and have save files on.

Luckily though all the hotels I’ve been to have offered free Internet… well, except one in Mexico. And the regular channels have been tolerable, at least with a wide enough selection to get me by for a few hours.

    Thats Bullshit alright!

And whys everyone saying Cinemassacre went down? maybe it was while i was at school. But thats definitely Bullshit

  106. captainchris00 February 26, 2009 @ 2:23 am

Well, not Circuit City anymore as they went under.

Also, you seem to be the last person with a NES. I have Final Fantasy one and managed to beat it in cartridge form with all white wizards. If you want it, send me an e-mail at Captainchris00@yahoo.com and I’d be happy to mail it to you. My NES is long gone.

    Chris

  107. Blackdragon495 February 26, 2009 @ 7:45 am

Nice video man. I hate going on trips then being stuck wiht nothing to do at night. Oh but some hotels acutally have regular cable with hbo so it ain’t all bad.

  108. Karma-X February 26, 2009 @ 8:56 am

“you know what’s BULLSHIT? that’s James Rolfie posts everything else, except new AVGN videos. and that’s bullshit!”

You know what’s BULLSHIT? AVGN-obsessed, disrespectful kids that whine and make incredibly selfish, self-centered demands of James without showing the least bit of appreciation and respect for any of his other quality work that he does as well.

    And THAT’S REALLY bullshit.

  109. kylr23 February 26, 2009 @ 9:40 am

I have to agree it is Bs that the hotels make you pay for games and wont allow you to do that shit for free. I only seen and been in one Hotel/condo place called Luxury Mountain Getaway. And believe it or not they had tvs with inputs for game counsels. Saddly allot of the hotels seem to have the older tv’s with out the inputs, why cant they upgrade and have the tv with inputs?
Oh well, any ways nice vid James

  110. myk1217 February 26, 2009 @ 12:43 pm

  111. StandUpDude February 26, 2009 @ 7:10 pm

I’m not complaining but you know whats bullshit? Not being able to post your own videos on your own site because of a contract.

  112. kaymation February 26, 2009 @ 7:35 pm

i remeber back in the late 90’s/ early 21st when EVERY hotel room had an n64, but the controller and console both had weird locks on them

  113. Mr.Tickles February 26, 2009 @ 9:29 pm

    You know what’s BULLLLSHIT?

Fucking intrusive ads on your videos.
Not only do I have to click that fucker away, but it COMES BACK!

  114. queenanthai February 27, 2009 @ 1:36 am

Why, if only they would invent some kind of portable video game console!

    XD

  115. BB February 27, 2009 @ 4:29 pm

This was a pretty insightful episode of You Know What’s [or is it “Whats?”:-)] Bullshit? The funniest moment in Episode 10 was James remarking about the only TV sets he’d ever encountered sans RCA input were TVs that were 20-30 years old. In fact, throughout the years, those are exactly the kinds of TVs I could expect to encounter in any hotel/motel room! Don’t be surprised to find a TV with tuner knobs when you check into the roadside motel you’ll be bedding down in for the night!

You’re trying to hook up a Gamecube or a Playstation 2 to your motel room’s television?! You’re bitching ‘cause you can’t hook up your game system via RCA, and you have to resort to coaxial input (I know, coaxial sucks)? Fuck me, be glad if that antiquated piece of shit called a “Television Set” in your Motel 6 even has a coaxial input! [That’s why you pack a UHF adapter, just in case.]

Hell, just be grateful if you can “tune” the goddamn thing to pick up HBO or Cinemax!

  116. BB February 27, 2009 @ 7:12 pm

My previous comment aside, I am marveling over the derisive commentary on this You Know What’s Bullshit #10 post in regards to the lack of any new AVGN episodes in a month (the last being Milon’s Shitty Asshole posted on 27 Jan. 2009). Equally concerning are complaints about “pop-up” ads in at least the newer videos hosted here on Cinemassacre. Someone griped about the entire Cinemassacre.com website being down for a whole day, even while James was/is in the process of getting a new server for the site. People are rumbling about James’ contract revision, and I see the seeds of rumor-mongering being planted about the future of Cinemassacre and the AVGN. On this topic, someone recently posted the comment:

“…you know what’s bullshit? Not being able to post your own videos on your own site because of a contract.”

Okay, stop the fucking press. Stop jumping to fucking conclusions, and making bullshit assumptions and speculations. Let’s get a grip on ourselves.

So James is renewing his contract with GameTrailers; so what? Some people’s comments on this thread implied that the future of AVGN/Cinemassacre might be taking a turn for the worse, such as “…not being able to post your own videos on your own site because of a contract.” Where the fuck did this come from? James never announced anything like that. Another poster queried about the contract revision, concerned whether the AVGN episodes would be hosted by GameTrailers any more or not. Of course, they’ll continue to host AVGN.
When undergoing significant changes, such as business contract renewals, individuals involved often have their typical routines, daily or otherwise, altered. James has been involved with the “Business Bullshit” aspect of this whole AVGN phenomenon, so routinely scheduled things can be delayed.

So chill the fuck out and be patient for the next episode of AVGN, which will arrive soon enough, of which you don’t have to pay James a fucking dime to watch or download.

Actually, this whole “Business Bullshit” needs a little addressing. I often wondered exactly how James could continue to afford creating and hosting these AVGN videos, along with his other works and this whole site. I know fans help to an extent via donations (games, art, music, maybe even Paypal?), and he’s affiliated with GameTrailers and Spike. As a fellow up-and-coming Indie Filmmaker, I just hope James is on somebody’s payroll, because this AVGN shit alone looks extremely time-consuming and expensive!

…Which brings me to the adds in the videos. They’re probably a combination of the GT contract and James needing (and wanting!) to stay financially afloat! If you don’t like the adds, just wait for the whole video to upload so you can click through them. Jesus Fuck, scold a guy just trying to make ends meet after he gives his artistic works away for free.

If the label “Starving Artist” ever applied to anyone, it’s to the Independant Filmmaker!

If you want James to crank out AVGN episodes more rapidly, why don’t you click on the “Paypal donate” button on this site and drop down a few dollars? Or maybe send him a riff of your personalized AVGN theme song, or some fan art, or something contributive to his continuing efforts? It wouldn’t hurt to give a little to a guy who, after all, gives his art away for free all day. Perhaps you could take all this into account with your GT contract renewal, James! Make ‘em pay from now on to watch your shit! [Heh, heh]

Great video as always, James! Perhaps an update to your F.A.Q. could explain how, while AVGN/Cinemassacre may be “free” for everyone, someone (namely, you) is footing the bill. Maybe the question(s) could be: “How do you financially support yourself?”/”Do you have a job?”/”Your videos and this website seem like they involve a tremendous amount of time and money on your behalf. How can you afford to keep doing all of this?”

A question/answer topic in your FAQ referencing the above questions may help visitors and fans of AVGN/Cinemassacre understand better the prodigious amounts of dollars and sweat equity involved with creating AVGN, running the site, and your other projects. Folks then might “pay” you (pun intended) a little more respect, such as develop greater patience between AVGN episodes. Just a suggestion; keep up the good work!

[Note: If you want to update your FAQ with my suggested topic, go right ahead and use my question(s) as you see fit.]

Im afraid you’r way off track.Im gonna try to make it easy for you.Once again i am not complaining or trying to argue on the subject , i am only stating the obvious. So here we go : James owns AVGN right? This is his own videos right? This is his own site right? So what in the world would stop him from posting his own stuff on his own site other than the ”contract” or other reasons wich were not given. Lets say like… he has no videos ready to be posted , but im pretty sure he would tell us.I dont see why he would not want to post his AVGN videos as he always did either. So the conclusion anyone with a brain will come up to , is because of the ”contract”.

Once again i am NOT complaining , just stating the obvious , reasoned with we are given as an explanation to the situation. That is all , thanks.

    LOL….great vid as always!

funny thing is I just went to a hotel and they actually had RCA input…..luckly I brought my Wii along…..but you did have to pay for WiFi……bullshit!

A history lesson followed by crazy antics? Like a history lesson on the video game crash of 1983 followed by the crazy antics that would surely go with the long-awaited E.T. review?

    I’m with these guys :P

Awesome video as usual James. I’ve never encountered that kind of bullshit in hotels, but on the other hand… I rarely use hotels and if I do I rarely bring my video games lol

  122. Arctic Sunburn February 28, 2009 @ 4:59 pm

Hahahaha! Episode 10 was the best one yet. Can’t wait for those AVGN videos.

Glad to know everything is being worked out

  126. Big Angry Nerd March 4, 2009 @ 6:37 am

Ill tell you what’s bullshit. Rice in burritos. What the fuck? You think rice has some hidden fucking flavor that makes something complete whenever it’s added? Even seasoned fucking rice tastes like crap, why don’t they just give me an extra scoop of beans for fucks sake.

Red’s bullshit too. Why the fuck does everything bad have to be red? Stoplights, RROD, consoles on stand-by, strawberry’s. The schools where they switched out the red correction pens (to keep kids from killing themselves, remember that?) to purple. Why the fuck can’t we see that. A purple stop light, or a fucking BROD (Blue Ring of Death) just to liven things up for a fucking change.

  127. PissedAsianGamer March 8, 2009 @ 11:44 pm

well, you can bring a capture card and hook it up to a computer… but I WANT TO PLAY ON A BIGGER SCCREEN!!

    You know whats Really Bullshit?

    Computer Viruses.

People send then out through rouge security programs, torrent files, even fucking music files. Why? Just to get the satisfaction of being an asshole. Thats Bullshit.

  132. Mad-Mari September 15, 2009 @ 12:43 pm

Dude I’m with you one the hotel tv rip off. I am forever grateful that I have my portable dvd player and I have two options for it. I can use my plug outlet jack or my battery pack. Either way I’m good.

  133. coolkid23 October 4, 2009 @ 9:33 pm

i have a tv with plugs not on the front and it was made like in 2007.

  134. HawkeyeAVGNfan October 6, 2009 @ 7:56 am

Yeah that’s why i hate Hotels… They SUCK!!!

  135. bigndfan1982 October 7, 2009 @ 6:36 pm

There is a new chain of hotels called ALOFT that is run by Sheraton. They have 40 inch HDTVs and a box on the desk in the room that lets you hook up HDMI, AV, USB, AC adapters, and computers to the TV and they have good free WiFi. The place trys to be real hip and modern and pulls it off in looks but it comes off kind of cheesy sometimes (like the staff greeting you with Aloha). But check it out if there is one when you travel. I stayed at the one near the airport in Baltimore.

  136. renllata November 6, 2009 @ 1:14 pm

At least in my country is lot like this. Even the internet is free.

  137. GunGrave November 28, 2009 @ 10:03 am

  141. squagledude January 13, 2010 @ 7:45 pm

Most hotels I have gone to have RCA inputs. The BULLLLLLLLLLLLL SHIT is those big ass cabinets. I bring a super nintendo along, and fuck me, I only have that COAXIAL SHIT! :P
